The other day, Acadia was playing with play dough in her toy room. She called me in and told me that I was going to watch a movie about Mt. St. Helens. I entered the toy room to find Acadia had molded a mountain and some small round balls of clay nearby it. She explained that the movie was about to start.
She began by stating that this mountain was Mt. St. Helens. Then she told how Mt. St. Helens' top blew off. As she told me this, she took her play knife and cut off the top of the play dough mountain! It soared through the air and landed on (what I was told was) our house. (At this point she whispered that not everything in this movie was true.)
She then proceded to hack away at the side of the mountain with the knife telling how the mountain blew out it's side. When she had finished this part of the "movie", she directed my attention to the several round balls. These were lava domes. It was a whole lava dome family. She explained that after the mountain blew up, there were lava domes inside it. She placed a lava dome inside the mountain's hole.
Then she started to get silly. (Start?) :lol: It was really amazing to me that she came up with this idea on her own and fairly accurately told about the erruption. Good job, Cadi! :thumb:

I am impressed by how much Acadia knows and remembers about Mt St Helens and how creatively she can share it. Smart little girl!
Maybe she will be a great scientist.
She is certainly great. Yeah Acadia for learning so much! yeah for you for giving her learning opportunities and watching her "movie", supporting her in her fun and learning.
