It's the thought that counts.

I haven't posted in awhile - but I've been thinking about posting... does that count?

We have been having FUN! (Aside from my still being sick and a major party-pooper.) We didn't end up going to the movie on Saturday because just as we were leaving, a friend called and needed an emergency sitter. We decided the movie would still be there all week, but our friend was in need and that was more important. So, instead we ordered take-out Chinese and watched a couple of really cute kids.

Sunday was pretty much your typical Sunday. Monday was a lazy day since Ryan, Landon, and I stayed up til the wee hours of the morning the night before (who am I kidding? We've stayed up til the wee hours EVERY night so far!). It was a beautiful day so after Cadi got home from school, we took her to the park. We had some snacks for a "picnic" and brought a bunch of balls to play catch with and such. It was fun. I do have pics. (But they aren't on the computer yet... sorry... someday soon... I hope.) The neighbor kids came out to play with us and it ended up pretty fun. Their mom (who is Canadian too) came out to sit on the blanket with me and visit while we watched the kids play with the guys. It was a really nice afternoon.

On Tuesday, we kept Cadi out of school and took her to Mt. Hood to play in the snow. It was simply a GORGEOUS day! We found a cute little hilly place to go tubing. We brought Simon with us which ended up pretty fun because Landon took him down the hill a couple times. The dog actually seemed to like it! lol I took video of it, I just need to go through the video to grab some stills that I can put up. Ooh, I wonder if there's a way to post a video clip? That would be funny. Well, either way, again you'll have to wait. Sorry.

Yesterday was another pretty lazy day. I had mutual (Roadshow Kickoff) so the boys took Cadi out to Chuck E. Cheese's for dinner and to play. After she went to bed, the guys played x-box til it was time to go return all the games they had rented. Then we started our LOTR "marathon". Which really isn't a marathon because we aren't watching them all straight through. But we are watching them all while he's here, so last night was Day 1.

Today we are gonna pick Cadi up from school and take her to see Hoodwinked (finally). She doesn't know it yet. Sometimes it's just better not to tell her too much ahead of time, lol. She has secretly (well, really not-so-secretly) been wanting us to come pick her up from school. I think so she can show Landon her school and some friends, or maybe it's the other way around. Either way, we thought she'd like the surprise.

I promise I will (eventually) get pics up and I'll try not to neglect the blog too much. Til then... 2 more days unril Ryan's real b-day! He still hasn't decided what he wants to do on that day. Possibly go up to Seattle to just look around and "play". It's probaby gonna be rainy here. If you have any ideas... share them! Thanks!

I got him good.

Ryan's birthday is next Saturday. He had figured that I was planning "something". But when he got home from work last night, the last thing he expected was a knock at the door. And when he went to answer the door, the last thing he expected was to see Landon standing there! And a few minutes later when he turned on the TV, the last thing he expected was to see his new X-Box screen! (I must really love my boy!)

Yay! I surprised him!!! I arranged with his supervisor to have all of next week off. Now he gets 10 days to play with one of his best friends and his new X-Box.

So far, most of today has been just that... Ryan and Landon playing X-Box. But in a few minutes we are gonna go take Cadi to see "Hoodwinked" and probably grab some dinner.

And after 32 of the last 33 days being rainy, the next four are going to be bright and sunny! So we're planning some fun stuff to do together. (We may have to pull Cadi from school a day or two next week. But I don't think she'll mind, lol.)

Rain is falling all around.

To say it's been raining alot lately is an understatement. Even for the NorthWest! We've had something like 24 or 26 days straight of rain. And contrary to popular belief, it really doesn't usually rain that much here.

Last January, we were in a bit of a drought. Not so this year. Infact, our average rainfall for the month of January is normally 1.9 inches. So far, in just 13 days we have had more than 5 inches of rain! We have more than doubled our monthly average in less than two weeks! And we've got at least another week of rain ahead.

Some people get sick of it. I have not felt this way yet! (And I'm talking - the entire time we've lived here - almost three years now.) I suppose this month hasn't really affected me since I've been staying at home - and usually in bed! lol Ryan gets tired of it, but then he has to drive in it and also needs to walk quite aways outside for work sometimes. Poor guy.

Anyhow, we have had some people ask us how we're doing with all the rain. And let me assure you that we are fine. We are not in any of the areas that are in danger of flooding or landslides. So far no leaks from the roof either, so we're good. lol

Just a plug.

Yesterday I found myself with a big craving. I wanted breadsticks. And not just any breadsticks... I wanted The Olive Garden's breadsticks. So when it was time for Ryan to come home, I had him go over and pick some up for me.

I didn't even know if they would let you just walk in and buy breadsticks to take home - but they do! It was something like 12 for $4. So, last night I was a happy girl eating my Olive Garden breadsticks at home in my sweats while watching Dancing with the Stars.

So, the next time you want good Italian food, go to The Olive Garden. They've got such yummy breadsticks and a great house salad. Plus their food is always good. Thanks Olive Garden

Two steps forward, one step back

Things have gotten much easier in many ways... but these mornings...!!! They are still hard. And today I met my match. Let me just say that OJ and I do not get along. Which really is too bad because I love a nice glass of orange juice every now and then. But I think I'll be steering clear for the next few weeks. Not fun.

All Systems: Go

This morning Ryan and I went to my 11 week check up. I haven't been too nervous, but I have been anxious to hear the heartbeat again. At first she had trouble finding it, which made me worry. But then, there it was! Yeah, I cried. It was a relief and now I have no worries. I'm near the end of the first trimester and everything looks great. And now I'm ready to start shopping! lol

During the exam she also felt around and didn't find any signs of the cyst! So we aren't going to do the ultrasound this month like we originally planned. The next one will be around 20 weeks.

I received a Priesthood blessing a week ago. I had just spent two days in bed with a horrible migraine which came at the end of my most difficult week yet. I was so sick and miserable! But during that blessing I felt a change and I immediatly felt better. This past week has been much easier. I am still sick in the mornings but the rest of the day is pretty good and most evenings I do alright too. I still have some cramps, headaches, fatigue, and tenderness - but the sick feeling is the worst part so I'm glad that's down to mornings only. I don't doubt that the blessing is what made the difference. Even my headaches are better - I have had a couple of little headaches, but they never grew to be migraines and that is awesome.

I am so grateful for that blessing! I believe the blessing somehow chased away that cyst. It didn't burst (which would have been extremely painful for a couple of days) but the severe symptoms did seem to just drop dramatically overnight.

I still have had a hard time believing that this is real this time. But hearing the heartbeat now, near the end of the first trimester, it is actually sinking in. This one has stuck and it's actually going to make it!

They say that every baby is a miracle. But I don't think that most people realize just how true that is. When you've gone through the problems of trying to have children, you start to see just what a miracle it is everytime a baby is born. I know that I took for granted how blessed we were to have Acadia with no major problems. But now that we've experienced our own trials, I realize that once this baby is born, I will have had two miracle babies.

I had accepted that Acadia would probably be an only child. I was okay with it, I felt peaceful about it. I knew that the Lord was in control and I trusted Him. But I can't tell you how good it feels to find out I was wrong! That yes, the Lord IS in control but Cadi won't be the only one, He is sending us one more. Who knows if this will be the last or if there are more surprises for us in the future. Right now, I don't care. I feel like we just won the Wild Card and are getting more than we deserve already. lol

Sorry ladies, he's taken!

I think you should all know that I married the most awesome guy ever! So, I regret to inform the rest of the ladies out there that you’ll have to settle for #2. But I’m sure #2 isn’t bad at all either, so that’s okay… right?

Man, my man has been so good to me though. He has really gone above and beyond while I’ve been sick. From the very beginning, he has insisted that I rest and relax. He has not expected, asked, or even hinted at wanting me to do anything “productive”. Part of it is because he wants to make sure this pregnancy is healthy and if that means that he has to do all the things that need to be done so that I don’t have to – it’s what he’ll do. But alot of it is because he is just so wonderful.

He works LONG days and has a pretty demanding calling in church. He has not shirked his duties in the slightest. But every moment he is home, he has attended to Acadia , myself, or the house. He has done every little bit of cooking, cleaning, laundry, and dishes that have happened in the last several weeks. (With a little help with Cadi, who likes to help with dishes, sometimes.) Then on top of that, he has done my errands for me, been my gopher for water, crackers, or whatever, rubbed my feet, made runs for food – and then ate what I couldn’t stomach, read to me, and has offered his sleeve for my tears when I just felt so bad I couldn’t help but just cry.

And he has done every bit of this with a loving attitude and a smile. He actually says that he likes it and is happy to do all of this. And he means it! He is the best husband ever – and I’m the lucky one, cause he’s mine.

Resolutions

Okay, I didn't make any this year. But I'm okay with that, lol.


However, I think that Ryan and Acadia have made at least one together: eat as much sweets as you can. I had a meeting with the youth after church today and when I got home, there was an apple pie in the oven and they were were talking about making cookies and cupcakes too! I convinced them to only make one or the other. So we ended up with an apple pie and chocolate cupcakes. Why? No idea.

Our home teachers came over (Wow, on the FIRST! lol Actually they were over mostly to give me a blessing. This is the week I've been dreading. It's the week when I normally start seeing definite signs of a miscarriage. I'm not really worried, but I will be glad when the week passes without a problem.). We sent one home with half a pie and the other one with a plate of cupcakes (his wife was actually making a pie today too! lol).

Crazy, crazy. So, my family is a bit backwards I guess. Instead of making resolutions and breaking them after a week or two, they just make ones they know they can keep right off the bat! And in the meantime, they sabotage everyone else's resolutions too! lol
