"Can't you just play your harp and I'll throw things at you?"

- VeggieTales, "Dave and the Giant Pickle"

Yesterday I signed my first "downline" in PartyLite! She did a terrific job building her show up to $550! She earned her starter kit for free PLUS got another $200 is spending credit! Good deal for her! And, Yay for me too!

I feel like things have been so hectic lately! I need to take some time (this afternoon would be good) to slow down, regroup, and BREATH!!! I have about 2 hours before choir practice starts. Maybe I just need to rest and read some scriptures. Hey, it can't hurt!

Mission Accomplished!

We found the Girl Scouts and our pantry is now stocked! :lick:

I also grabbed another quart of paint for the family room. The last color just wasn't right. This one is a little more mossy, but not as mossy as my bedroom. It already looks like a better match, I'm waiting for my test patch to dry before I make a final decision.

The weather has been GREAT!!! If it stays this nice I'll paint the walls next week. Yay! It's going to look so nice when it's all done!

Not Quite Snippets

I didn't think these qualified as Snippets, but they are entertaining!

"Do you want to use this balloon as a whoopie cusion?" - Acadia

"I almost fell in Shark Lake!" - Acadia

"My puppy really likes people, but the dolphin is kind of shy." - Acadia

"Daddy, you're the best pancake maker!" Then Ryan's response, "It's amazing what chocolate chips can do!"

When everything is said and done...

Being sick is never fun. - That is one of my favorite sayings from a Stampin' Up! stamp. lol But that's not what I was going to say...

I have been listing a bunch of things on e-bay the last couple of weeks. I ended up listing 117 auctions! Most were Stampin' Up! stamps and sets, but some were other items Stampin' Up! related and one was non-SU! at all.

My grand total? Hehehe...oh, it was so worth it! I made $1700!!! That's not just more than I expected, it's FOUR TIMES more than I expected!!! Can we say "New Furniture"!?!

I'm just waiting for Ryan to talk to his friend first to see if he's going to make it for us or if I have to order it.

YAY!!!

Cautiously Optimistic

You may recall a "show" I had with a gal last month for PartyLite. She failed to invite anyone until the day before and NO ONE came! To make matters worse, this lady's house is the filthiest house I have ever seen in my life! It was truly awful and smelt horrible!
Well, today I had to take some candles out to her (orders that were from her "show" that never was, which then got placed on another show that really was) and I was dreading it! But I've been wanting to keep this gal as a contact because she runs a 4-H group and wants to do a fundraiser. I want her to do that fundraiser with me!

First good sign: When I got there, instead of inviting me in, she sat down on the porch and we visited there! YAY!!! This was a HUGE relief!

Second good sign: She and I talked about dates in which to have this fundraiser. We're looking at March 11 and 18 or March 18 and 25. She is going to talk to the school to see which dates will be available.

You see, this fundraiser could be a really big thing for me! We are going to have a kick off night where we do a little demo and allow everyone the chance to see and smell the products. We'll explain how the fundraiser will work and take orders as well as book personal shows off of it (since extra bookings will also really benefit the group). Then there will be a one week period for the 4-H members to collect outside orders from their neighbors, parent's co-workers, family members, etc. And finally a closing show at the end of that week. Again with the display and mini demo (we'd encourage those who couldn't come last time to come this time and also those who did come last time to come again but bring a friend), take more orders, book more shows and finally tally it all up. We'd annouce right then and there how much the group sold and therefore earned.

It's got the potential to be an awesome event for the 4-H group and for me! Can you imagine all the contacts I could make? It's in Camas so it's far away from my "circle" that I get stuck in!

Plus, March is a HUGE hostessing month this year! We've got specials for hostesses all over the place! It's one of the best hostessing months I've ever seen! (BTW, if you want to know what they are, leave a comment or send me an e-mail!) So we're hoping that by holding the kick off show early in the month, some of the women will sign up and hold their own shows to get all this great stuff for themselves. They will have plenty of time to book and hold it by the end of the month.

As I said, I'm trying to be cautiously optimistic. This lady who is in charge has a poor track-record with me. However, she is very committed to the 4-H group and I would work with her to make sure advertising gets accomplished. (It's simply in my best interest!) Also, it won't be at her house! This could be a huge factor in the past failed attempts at this kind of thing!

So, wish me luck!!!

Friday Five

1.) If you were in a band (you know, a successful one...), and you HAD to remake an old song, what band/song would you choose and why?
That's a tough question for me. I really don't know why it would be this song but I keep thinking "Somewhere Over the Rainbow".

2.) If you were a Make-a-Wish child, what would you wish for (and why)?

Uh, first I'd wish to be healthy! But that's not what they mean... Oh there are so many things that I could wish for! I think that at this point, I'd wish for a week up in British Columbia watching killer whales.

3.) If you had the chance to learn when you were going to die, would you take it? Would you tell anyone if you knew (either your date of death or theirs)?

I do think I'd want to know. (I'm a control freak! I hate the "unknown"!) I might tell some people my date (like my husband and really close friends) and I'd try to prepare Acadia. But I wouldn't tell someone their date, unless they wanted to know.

4.) If you couldn't die until you helped someone, would you rather live forever selfishly or die earlier?

I think I would carefully plan the act of service. It wouldn't be postponed for an unneccessary amount of time, but I wouldn't rush out to do it that afternoon either. I'd make sure everything was "ready" first, then say my good-byes and do the job.

5.) If there's any goal you haven't accomplished yet, what is it and what is stopping you?

There are tons of goals I haven't accomplished yet! And there are a ton of reasons why! I am currently learning sign-language so I can talk with a deaf girl in our Mia Maid class. But I still would love to learn French. Just one language at a time for me though, so that one's going to have to wait awhile.

I also have a goal to do the church history tour. I haven't because of time and money. Same with attending a live session at the SLC temple. Someday...

It's the most wonderful time of the year!

Okay, not that "most wonderful time of the year". It's the other "most wonderful time of the year"!

Yes, it is GIRL SCOUT COOKIE TIME!!! Yeehaw!!! The time when cute little girls in their neatly pressed Girl Scout uniforms, plant themselves in front of Wal-Mart, Blockbuster, gas stations, and malls, hoping to catch your eye (or sweet-tooth) and convincing you to spend all your money on their addictive cookies! And we love it!

So far Ryan has been the one to "run in" to the girls. He has only had a few dollars on him each time so we've not gotten our entire "year's supply" yet. I'm planning on going out this weekend with the sole purpose of finding me a Girl Scout!

It's really too bad Daisy Scouts (Acadia's age) aren't allowed to do fundraisers like selling cookies. If she stays in it next year (which I doubt), we'll be all set for our cookie connection!

So close and yet so far.

Today I saw the orthodontist. We decided not to use the final track of InvisAlign braces because they were going to over-correct some of the teeth. But she decided she wanted to order a couple more tracks to shift a couple other teeth just a little more.
So I'm to wear the current track for another month or so until the final tracks come in. Then a few weeks with them and I should be done.

I would even be happy with how they are right now, they are great compared to how they were when I started last summer! But if it's only a couple more tracks and the results will be "perfection", then hey!

100 Days of School

Yesterday was Acadia's 100th day of school! They celebrated by drawing pictures of themselves and crumpling them up to look really old. I hung those pictures in the classroom today while I was there - funny! They also did worksheets finding "100"s in a sea of numbers.
Today is Weary Wednesday. I've decided that's what I'm going to call Wednesdays from now on. So much going on and crazy busy - I get so tired! I go from one thing to the next and feel like nothing is getting done in the meantime!

Today I did run over to pick up paint swatches while Cadi was in dance class. The color we originally chose for the family room is too light. I need to find an inbetween from what is on the wall now and what we were going to do.

Acadia is going to Girl Scouts soon, today they are touring a fire station. I think that's cool. And I'm glad I had the nerve to tell the leader I can't go.

I HAVE to fold clothes today! (Will probably do that while Cadi's at Girl Scouts.) Ryan and I slept on an air mattress in the family room because we did a ton of laundry - but just piled it on the bed and never folded them. Plus we thought it would be fun to lay out there watching LOTR and not have to go to bed afterwards! (As if we couldn't just watch it in our bedroom.)

Ya, I know pathetic. Well, no more time to sit here. Afterall, it is Weary Wednesday!

I have survived!

So far.
Yes, the home teachers came - a little early even! It was a nice visit. Cadi loves Brother B. Ryan actually home teaches his family and she went with him once. Sister B. is the primary president - a really neat family.

It sounds like both of our home teachers may be moving out of the ward soon though. Both are looking in Oregon. Better them than me! I'll stay here, thank you!

I had my fireside too. It was awesome! We had a terrific turnout and a great discussion. I didn't sneeze at all, just coughed a couple of times. The girls were great, shared some stories, asked questions, participated well. They were very excited about the handouts we made for them. They LOVE handouts! I guess that's good because it means that they are more likely to use them or look over them once in awhile and will remember some of what we talk about.

I feel a lot better today. Still have a small headache and a little coughy/phlemy. But no sneezing yet - YAY!!! Rye and I are going to hit the gym later, Cadi is excited to use their DayCare for the first time. Silly girl. We probably wouldn't go today since she's home except she is begging for us to so she can play there. Hopefully she likes it and I can use it as an option for days when I can't go while she's at school. It's only $2 for 1 1/2 hours! Totally reasonable!

Also working on getting some things done around the house. I've got a whole list of "Honey Do's" for Ryan, hehehe. I've got my own list too. But some of my things have been waiting for him to finish his first. Like, I need him to put the molding back up around the bathroom door before I can put the cove base down. I've been waiting on this for a few days! And he needs to figure out what shelves we're putting up in the bathroom corner (will the old ones work, or do we need to make new ones) so I can paint them.

I guess I should get going then...full day!

Stinkin' Cold

I can't remember the last time I stayed home from church. Is this the first time since living here in Vancouver? It might be. I faintly recall Cadi staying home sick, did I stay home with her or Ryan? I don't remember.
I hate to miss it! I love going to church and feeling the spirit. Having a great ward with greag members and great teachers sure helps! I feel like I'm really missing out when I'm not there.

But here I am...sick. Stinkin' Cold! I'm sneezy, sniffly, coughy, and achey. I doubt anyone there wants me to come share it with them! The big question is what to do about tonight.

I'm in charge of a fireside for the Young Women tonight. I'm supposed to lead the girls in a discussion about miracles. It's supposed to be a way for the girls to get to know me (at least that's what my YW Pres. said when she told me she didn't want me to get "guest speakers" but would rather me lead the discussion). So, do I go and get them all sick so they can get to know me? I'm thinking about it.

Our home teachers were scheduled to come by after church today. I told Ryan to tell them I'm sick so they can choose whether or not to come. From Ryan's reaction, I doubt he'll tell them. He's the type that wouldn't care, so he assumes that would be everyone's response. So, I need to be prepared for our home teachers today. This will be their first visit to us. They changed all the routes a month ago and we got new ones.

*Sneeze, sneeze, sneeze, blow nose*

Did I mention this cold stinks?

It must be true!

Because I took it twice and got the same results even when some of my answers were a little different! Not that I disagree, I was just curious if the other answers I felt were equally correct would yield another result. I guess not, no matter how you look at it, I'm most like...

A Day Late

Debi used to post Friday Five's on her blog almost every week. Since she doesn't anymore, I'm going to. So I missed yesterday - oh well, I'm sick with this stinkin' cold, running to and from the post office mailing away all my stamps, trying to sort of keep the house almost clean, and planning a fireside for the young women tomorrow - just deal!

1. If you could have anything you wanted to eat for a day, what would you choose for your meals and snacks?
This reminded me of a trip Ryan, Cadi, Debi and I took to the beach last year. We decided to go to Long Beach instead of our regular Canon Beach. We weren't impressed and haven't gone back. On the way home, we started talking about our ideal meal. We each listed our dream 7 course dinner. :lick:

OK, back to the question - Disclaimer: This is only living in a dream world where calaries don't count and you can eat as much as you want. Like in "Defending Your Life" - btw, if you haven't seen that movie, you should - it's cute.)

I'd start with Potatoes and Eggs and French Crepes with strawberries and cream cheese for breakfast with Dole Pine-Orange-Banana juice to drink. I'd have fresh fruit - including strawberries, cantelope and grapes on the side.

For a mid-morning snack I'd have a Strawberry Banana Smoothie.

Lunch would be a combination sandwich, egg-salad and chopped olive from Leatherby's in Sacramento with fries and a pickle on the side. I'd be drinking water but only because I'd have the Black and Tan for dessert while I'm there!

After that huge lunch I'd be too stuffed for an afternoon snack, but just to humor you (And not to mention this is a dream afterall - who gets stuffed in a dream?), I'd probably have Strawberries with various things to dip them in: sour cream and brown sugar, chocolate, cool whip, etc.

Okay, for dinner...are you ready?
  • Appetizer: A sampler of fried cheese, onion rings, and hot wings
  • Green salad with the Spaghetti Factory's house dressing
  • Chicken Fettucini Alfredo with Garlic Bread
  • Spagetti Diablo
  • General Tsao's Chicken (from Silver Chopsticks in Sacramento) with an egg roll or two (from Jack in the Box)
  • Mom's meatballs
  • Dessert: Norma Jean from Boppin' Bo's in Vancouver

Midnight snack - Papa Connick made with Black Cherry ice cream.

2. Is there ever a dish/food or dessert you wanted to try but never had the opportunity, what is it?
Not really. I know there are foods that I would love that I haven't tried yet, but I don't know what they are...yet!

3. What's a dish/food or dessert you've tried that you wish you hadn't?
Seafood! Specifically the Scallops I tried at Jordan's Pond in Acadia National Park on Ryan and my 4th wedding anniversary. I almost "lost it" at the table!

4. Ever watch cooking shows? (i.e. "Great Chefs," "Epicurious," etc.)
Sometimes. I like Food 911 on the Food Network.

5. Are you hungry yet?
Getting there! I think I'll make "Chinese" for dinner tonight - with egg rolls!

Kaboom!

I've been sick with this stinkin' cold. Last night I woke up at about 2:25 or so. My throat was killing me, so I got a drink of water. Afterwards, I was laying in bed trying to get back to sleep when I heard a noise.

It sounded like a muted explosion of some sort and there was a rush of wind right afterwards, like a shock wave or something. It scared me. I decided to wake up Ryan, but the sound had woken him up so he was already awake.

Ryan had only heard the noise after the initial boom. And he thought he felt it, like a tremor. He thought it could have been an earthquake. When I told him I had already been awake and heard the first boom, we ruled that out.

Then we thought maybe it was Mt. St. Helen's doing "something". But we figured that even when she "blew", people in Vancouver didn't hear it, only those who were hundreds of miles away. We didn't rule it out, but thought it wasn't very likely.

We thought it was probably an explosion. But what? A house? A gas station? But then we decided there would be tons of sirens if it was something like that. There were a couple of sirens that came a couple of minutes after the noise, but they didn't last long.

We looked out the window, didn't see anything - plus it was pretty dark. We turned on the T.V. but there wasn't anything on - too early even if something really big had happened.

So, we went to bed. It took us awhile to get to sleep. This morning when I was watching the news, there was a small story about a car explosion in Vancouver less than a mile away. Yep, that was it.

I would have expected that we would hear the explosion. But what surprised me was that we could hear and feel the shock wave that followed it. Impressive.

Eat Your Heart Out

Last night, in honor of Valentine's Day we made Heart Pizzas! It was fun because Cadi and I did it together.
I shaped the hearts, then Acadia "painted" the hearts red with sauce, and we put our toppings on. It was pretty yummy.

I was thinking that it would be easy to do this with other shapes too, for other occasions. So if you like pizza and want a fun twist to dinner, try it!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Ryan surprised me today! He had to work and so I went to help in Cadi's class during their party. No, I completely FORGOT to take my camera, so no pictures. When we got home, Ryan had flowers, chocolates, Martinelli's, stuffed animals and a balloon for us! Yes, us.
I love how Ryan gives Acadia something when he gives me things. If he brings me a bouquet of flowers, he usually has a single flower for her. Today Cadi got the Balloon, a stuffed animal and some of the chocolates. I got the rest! Aww...very sweet. Especially since I was totally not expecting it!

How was your Valentine's Day?

I've been hearing/reading about how people don't like V Day because they aren't married or seeing anyone special to share it with. Is Valentine's Day ONLY for couples? Is it possible to celebrate Valentine's Day with someone other than your "love"?

I think so. But maybe it's easy for me to say because I am married and have my "love" to share it with. What do you think? Leave a comment.

If you can walk, you can dance!

-Motto for our youth this year.
Today in Sacrament meeting, it was announced that there would be a combined meeting during the 3rd hour. The stake wanted to talk to the adults and youth.

They FINALLY (we were the last ward to get this meeting) told about the Dance Festival later this year. Of course, we (those involved in mutual) already knew about most of it, but this was a great way to get the whole ward involved.

They showed a video of the BYU Dancers, past Dance Festivals, testimonials from leaders, youth, non-members, etc of how wonderful of an experience it is. It really was an effective video. Then they told us about the dances the youth would be doing this year, about the kick-off this week in Long View, how the ward can participate, etc.

I am SO excited about the Dance Festival!!! It is going to be an AMAZING experience! I am grateful that the youth will have the opportunity to participate. I am grateful that as a leader, I get to see it all happen from step one. I really encourage anyone who wants to come visit this summer to make it for the weekend of July 23!!!

And if there is ever an opportunity for you or your family to be involoved in anyway with a Dance Festival in your area - DO IT!!! Whether it is dancing (if you're a youth), teaching the classes (if you know how or at least like to dance - trust me, our teachers just learned the dance themselves - anyone can do it!), helping sew costumes, make props, house youth coming from out of town for the weekend, or even just showing up to see it all. Do what you can, do not miss this marvelous experience!

I'm taking reservations at the Rye-N-Rye Bed and Breakfast Inn (minus the beds of course, really the "Pull Up A Space On The Floor [or Pitch A Tent Out Back] and Three Meals A Day Inn") ...Don't delay, call today!

Plans Foiled

I decided to apply the cove base to our bathroom. I've done this before, in my master bathroom. So I got all the stuff out and started measuring.
2 set backs:

1) I don't have enough cove base left! I need another 4 feet! I wonder if there are scraps available at Home Depot or something. It would be silly to purchase a huge roll for such a small amount needed. I don't even need it in one strip. I have 3 spaces that add up to about 4 feet. Hmmm, we'll have to see what we can manage.

2) The cove base and the adhesive are supposed to be at room temperature for at least 48 hours. They've been in the garage and it isn't exactly room temperature out there.

So I guess as I'm waiting for the 48 hours to pass, I'll have to look into finding scraps.

Home improvement projects are never as quick or easy as you plan them to be!

I've hesitated to post this...

I know that I am going to be disowned for the extent to which I've been doing this...

So, as I posted a couple of days ago, I'm selling some of my stamps on e-bay. I am keeping most of my stamps, at least more than half, but it's still quite alot I'm selling. I've listed 104 items over the last couple of days! There is one listing that is not SU!, and there are a few listings that are SU!, but not stamps. But most of it is stamps.
I was hoping that if I sold everything, I'd make $400-500, then with the money I made selling candles last month I could buy the under-bed-dresser I've wanted.

So far, of the 104 listings, 35 have completed and my total already...$450!!! I still have 69 auctions, about half with bids already (totaling about $170 so far) that don't close for a few days. Most of the items have a Buy It Now option, so there are a few that could just get purchased at any time instead of being held as an auction.

I am floored by how much I've made so far! So is Ryan, he is very impressed! And I am thrilled that this means I will definitely get my bed soon!!! And if I keep up at this rate, I'll be able to buy a dresser or two to match!

I still have TONS of stamps - some for every occasion and with lots of variety. And I still plan on purchasing stamps in the future. But I'm much more picky about what I get now. I need to know I'm going to use it!

I hope I'm still welcome as a member of my family! Considering I'm the one who STARTED this whole Stamping thing! I still love it! And I probably still have more than anyone else (maybe, I have no idea how many Mom and Ruth have). I hope I get to stay!

Flashbacks

Today I've had several flashbacks...

Valentines
Acadia has been working on her Valentines for classmates. I remember the Valentines we used to give when we were little. We didn't often have the store bought cards. Usually we made ours out of construction paper. But the great part was when Mom would make chocolate hearts and "glue" them to the Valentine with frosting. The best Valentines were the ones with candy, so mine was among the favorites.

Bulletin Boards
Today I put up Acadia's class's artwork on a bulletin board in their school. Let me tell you, that is not as easy as it may seem! The whole time I kept thinking about how Mom often did that kind of thing at Camellia. Wow, that was a long time ago!

Bunco
At mutual we played Bunco. The only time I've played it before was at our Family Reunion in Ft. Bragg a few years ago. I hadn't even really remembered how to play until the rules were explained today! I remember that I won something that Aunt Lainee made. I don't really know what to call it, but I hang it in my bathroom because it has seashells on it.

Painting
I got some stuff to start painting again. Back to the bathroom! As you may recall, I've painted the bathroom before. But then we decided that we wanted texture on the walls, so we textured it. Now it needs to be painted again. And tomorrow's the day! Then I move on to the trim throughout the house which will be the same color as the bathroom so I'll probably get going on that tomorrow too.

Today was is the first day that I haven't been granted access to the Stampin' Up! Demonstrator website. Finally! I thought it would have been Feb. 1st.
So I got one week more than I expected to copy examples and save them to my computer for future ideas.

Times are changing... I am going to list a bunch of stamps on e-bay later today. I went through all my *many* stamps (those of you who have taken my quiz know how many I have) and decided to ditch the ones I simply do not use. Well, technically if I truly did that, I'd be selling all of them. I haven't been using my stamps AT ALL! So I'm selling a bunch, keeping the ones I think I will use.

I'm saving up for my bedroom furniture. Selling candles is helping to pay for it, and now stamps will help too. I think I will be able to order the under the bed dresser within the next couple of weeks. Then I'll have to save up for each additional piece one at a time.

We just DO NOT have enough space in our bedroom and the furniture we do have is old and cheap, its falling apart and looks really bad. The new stuff will look great, provide more storage space, and will finish off our bedroom quite nicely. (I still need to get the crown molding up, oh and some window coverings. But that isn't a big deal.)

I love, love, LOVE our master bathroom and where we're going with the bedroom. But the furniture has really been holding us back. I can't wait to have the new stuff so I can LOVE the bedroom too!

Called

Didn't we call it? Yeah Baby, the Patriots won the SuperBowl!!!
Well, we haven't watched the game yet, it turns out we got called last night and had it spoiled. We are still going to watch it. We actually got called first to have it rubbed in that that Eagles were ahead. Of course, that didn't last long (Was there ever any doubt?) and we noticed that the "certain someone" who called us to rub it in didn't call when the tide turned again! But we still love you Beckie!!!

This morning I called Acadia's school to let them know that she's gonna stay home today - sick again! She woke up around midnight with a headache. Went back to bed. Then got up around 2:30 to use the bathroom. Went back to bed. Finally woke up at 4:00 exclaiming she was going to throw up. Nothing gets you up and out of bed quicker than that! I "sprang" from my bed and have been up with her since.

I cheated and dozed on the couch while she watched some of her shows. But I am still exhausted!

Until then...

I've been "making my rounds", checking out the blogs I read and e-mails, reading the news. I have to do this now because in a little over an hour, I won't be allowed to go on-line...at least not until Ryan and I watch our taped copy of the SuperBowl tomorrow morning!
We even called "the folks" earlier so we wouldn't be talking to them after the game, risking the spoiled outcome.

This is the only Sunday game of the year that Ryan actually watches. Normally, we will simply check the stats and scores on-line. We only watch if its any other day of the week. And if it were anyother team playing we wouldn't care either. But our boys are back and playing well! Go Patriots!!!

So, DO NOT call us tonight and tell us who won the SuperBowl!!! (Not that you need to tell us, we know the Pats are gonna win it!) We are getting up FIRST THING tomorrow and watching our game just like everyone else - not knowing the plays until we see them.

?!?

Okay, I don't get it! These girls were doing something nice for their neighbors and are getting fined for it!?!
Okay Lady, if you have to go to the emergency room just because some nice neighborhood girls leave cookies and cute Valentine hearts on your doorstep, then YOU have problems - NOT the girls!

As noted in the article, they chose to stay home and bake cookies for their neighbors instead of attending a dance that they knew would have a bad atmosphere.

Uh...what are we teaching our youth?

I can't dance.

OK, you guys know me...I really can't dance!
But the youth are having this HUGE 4 Stake Dance Festival this year. And as a leader, I need to be at all the practices (provide control, support, rides, etc). Well, I thought we would just stand back and hold up the walls while we watched the kids learn.

WRONG!!!

We are supposed to learn it too! We won't be performing (THANK GOODNESS!!!), but we need to learn so we can help our kids learn if they are having trouble. Also, all the adult YW leaders needed to fill in as "boys" since we had more girls than guys.

So, I'm learning an Israeli Folk dance. I didn't know there was such a thing. But of course, I don't know everything. ;)

And what is an Israeli Folk dance? Well, so far we are doing alot of going in circles either running, bouncing, turning, or stomping. It is actually kind of cool. And it counts as my cardio today!

The next meeting we have is actually the official "kick off" in Long View. Its on the 15th and we'll have to leave around 5:30 and will get back around 9:30. But it is supposed to be really fun.

The next 6 months will be hard work and I know some of the kids are going to start complaining and try to get out of doing it, but it will be so worth it in the end. If you need a reason to come visit us this summer, make it the weekend of July 22 (actually its Thurs-Sat) and come see my girls dance! Plus, the BYU Dancers will be here, giving the youth motivational talks and participating in the dances as well.

600

I've had 600 comments on my blog!

Isn't there some TV Evangical group/show called the 600 Club? If so, how is it that I know this? I'm not one who usually pays attention to things like that. Weird.

So...speaking of clubs...okay, this doesn't have anything to do with clubs really...I went to the gym today. I met R.B. (His name is Ryan, but not to be confused with my Ryan. Also, the guy who signed my up for my membership earlier this week was named Ryan. They have 4 different Ryans working at that location!)...oh yeah, I was saying... I met R.B. and he gave me my official orientation to the gym. We talked about my goals and he cleared up some common myths to help me achieve my goals more easily.

Then for the fun part...I got weighed and measured. Okay, first off, this R.B. guy was pretty cute, young and pretty fit. (Debi, think swimmer's body) I kept telling myself that he's probably measured tons of people way more out of shape than me, but I don't think I was buying it.

So, first the scale. Which to be honest was a little of a relief because it showed me a couple pounds less than my scale at home! That NEVER happens! Then there was all the measuring. First with a measuring tape and then the fat pincher.

Okay, let me say that I'm just not used to having a man I don't know, who isn't even my doctor pinching my fat under my clothes! Okay, only one place was under my clothes. There would have been two, but since I was wearing my "G" top under my bra, the skin really wasn't very accessible.

Okay, so now I know Mom will never join a gym! This appointment was optional, so Mom if you ever join one and its offered, you can just say no.

Anyhow, after I found out I was in the "average" to "fair" bracket, he asked what area I wanted him to show me exercises for. I said abs! So, he showed me a ton of stuff I had never seen before that I would never have guessed worked your abs! Only one exercise was something I expected: crunches while laying back on a ball.

The funny thing is, just after trying a few of the exercises he showed me, my abs feel it. Before when I would do hundreds of crunches on the "ab machines" I never felt anything later in the day, which really made me wonder if they were working. Now I know...they weren't.

Yep, so that was my excitment today. When I told Ryan about the session, he was kind of (but not really) weirded out that I was talking about being with a Ryan and it wasn't him. This can't have been the first time I've associated with another Ryan before. I guess that's what he gets for having a common name!

Today in a Nutshell

Slept in , Cadi had no school today. This felt so good since I haven't been feeling well.

Did some cleaning Though really, I just did dishes and made Cadi pick up her toys.

Closed two PartyLite shows  Both reached $300, but one only did with help from me. So I'm claiming the bonus for that level - 12 dozen tealights for only $12...yeah baby!

Played Hookie  Didn't take Cadi to dance or Girl Scouts. Plus Mia Maids will be at our teacher's house instead of here. All because of this cold that I'm fighting. It's makin' me tired and my throat is sore.

However! We have discovered Emer'gen'C, which is a fizzy vitamin C drink. It tastes pretty good and I'm sure it is making a big difference in my cold verses Ryan's cold. I've been drinking that stuff like crazy and I'm (so far) not nearly as sick as Ryan was. Let's hope my luck holds!

Won Debi's Contest... Don't know what I won yet, I'm secretly hoping for a killer whale or baby grand piano.

Ryan's Revenge

I don't know what it is revenge for, mind you. But for some unapparent reason, he has decided that its just not fun being the only one sick.
So, now my throat is starting to hurt. Actually, it started last night. I'm gonna fight it though! I will not get as sick as Ryan and I definitely will not be sick for as long as Ryan. Dag-nab-it!

The big question is...what do I do about young womens tomorrow night. The Mia Maids were planning on coming here to watch "The Best Two Years". If I am sick, they really shouldn't because it proves this house is contagious. Do I cancel? Do I arrange for one of the families to host it at their house? And if so, do I go or not? I might need to call my president today for counsel on this.

But, before I got sick yesterday I did get lots of stuff done. Just busy stuff, but one of the things was to join the gym. So, I did it! I belong to 24 Hour Fitness and will be footing the bill to prove it. I am really glad. I love working out at the gym. I'm trying to decide whether to go today. I am leaning towards going and just doing weights. Cardio would be foolish since I am getting sick. So ya, I'm gonna get fit!

I think I'm gonna kick Ryan out of bed and make him take Cadi to the bus stop. hehehe
