Acadia: Hey Mom, I wonder if I could take British in high school?
Me: British is English; you already know it.
Acadia: But with an accent!

Freaky Photos with Sami
A while ago, we had Sami spend the night with us and found quite a bit of enjoyment in playing with her new laptop and it's crazy photo app. Here is a slideshow of the pics we took...

We are gathered here today...
... to mourn the nearly deceased.
Last month, my uncle turned 55 years old. It is interesting that the older I get, the less these numbers sound very "old" to me. My uncle is young, active, strong, healthy, and lots of fun. So my aunt decided to throw him a surprise "over the hill" kind of party.
In the form of a mock funeral.
LOVE IT!
Sami kept him out of the house while the rest of us got ready. I had made veils for all of the girls to wear, we all wore black, my aunt wrote a eulogy for my cousin to read, we lit candles EVERYWHERE and had photos of Matthew on the fireplace, kind of shrine-like.
As they arrived home, we sat in rows of fold up chairs and began whimpering, even at times wailing. Once he entered the room, Spencer began the eulogy. Afterwards, we each took turns standing and sharing our memories of Matthew and how much we loved him.
It was so awesome!
After a few minutes of this mockery, we turned the lights on, turned our veils around, and had a party! :)
Here is the birthday boy, mourning his own loss of youth....
... or perhaps, sanity. ;)
Just one more photo because I just love it. I love how patient my cousins all are with my kids. They never make them feel like they are annoying. Spencer sat and listened to Rori ramble on about - who knows what - for quite awhile. lol Such a good sport and nice guy. :)
It was a fun night. And we are all really glad that Matthew isn't really dead. We sure love him! :)

Funnies
I need to post this stuff before I forget it...
- Earlier this week, Rori informed me that when she turns five... she will be old! I asked, "Five year olds are old?" "Yep!" "Does that mean that Gracie is old?" "Yep! And Ellie." "What about Cadi? What are 11 year olds?" "Old." "What about Mom?" "Old." "And Dad?" "He's old." "All of your friends are old?" "Yep, but I'm not going to tell them that." "Why?" "They might be sad or mad." "But you just told me that I'm old, what if I feel sad or mad?" "It's okay Mom, I like you old."
- Tonight Ryan started teasing Cadi, I can't remember how it started, but it ended with him saying that she wasn't our child, we got her from aliens. And then he said, "We got you at an alien garage sale." LOL (Maybe you had to be there, but we thought it was hilarious - the way he said it, lol, it was awesome. lol) She didn't think it was as funny as we did. So, then he tried to make it up to her, "I love my alien garage sale daughter. She's my AGSD!"... Somehow, that didn't make her think it was any more funny than before. lol
- We told the girls that they needed to go to bed. As they are leaving the room, Rori's hanging her head. But she calls out, "I'm not pouting!" lol Can you tell she's been getting in trouble for that lately? ;)

Swimming Lesson FAIL
This morning, I got Rori all suited up and headed to the community center for swimming lessons just like we have every Monday since September. She's doing awesome and is in the highest level she can be in for her age group. She loves swimming lessons and has a great teacher. As we waited on deck for her name to be called, it wasn't. ??? I have her scheduled and paid for through July! What's up?
Oh. wait. I had to put her into the 9:30 class and we were standing there at 10:05 instead. Oops. I totally forgot about the time change.
Swimming lesson FAIL!
Rori was very disappointed. So, as we were changing back to go home, I told her that I was sorry she was having to miss lessons today, that it was my fault, and that we could get a treat for her instead. Immediately, she brightened up and asked for a puppy!!!
LOL Way to try to take advantage of THAT situation, kid! But no. I was thinking more along the lines of an ice cream cone. lol
In the end, she didn't want anything. I guess if you can't have a puppy, nothing else matters. ;) So, she's home watching a movie now. lol

Rori Funny
I was making dinner and Rori told me she didn't want what I was making, she wanted to eat something else - she asked for Spaghetti-Os. I was tired and honestly didn't care since it was just she and I anyway due to Cadi attending a b-day party and Ryan working on a friend's car. So, she hauls out the Spaghetti-Os while I continue to work away on dinner. As she leaves the kitchen, she says, "I love you, Mom, you're such a good cook."
LOL
Am I the only one who thinks that's hilarious? I'm not sure if she is saying that I'm a good cook because I said I'd make her Spaghetti-Os or if she feels bad for rejecting my real cooking for some crud out of a can and is trying to make me feel better. Either way, it made me laugh out loud. lol

Surprise
Tonight Rori said, "We want to get you a flower for Mother's Day. It's a surprise."
I answered, "Okay, but if it's a surprise you're not supposed to tell me."
She said, "I'm not. I'll tell Daddy."
lol

Someone needs a geography lesson.
To protect the innocent, names (not Cadi's) have been changed, but the story is real...
Acadia is playing a game with her friends: Sally and Martha. Martha is reading clues and Cadi and Sally are guessing what she's talking about.
Martha: This is where the Eiffel Tower is.
Cadi and Sally (in unison): Paris!
Martha: Which is in...?
Cadi and Sally (in unison): France!
Martha: Which is in...? You know, the continent...?
Cadi and Sally (in unison): Europe!
Martha: No. It's part of Asia.
Cadi and Sally: What???
Martha: The answer is London.
Cadi and Sally: That's not a continent!
Martha: Yes it is!
Cadi and Sally: No it's not! And the Eiffel Tower is not in London!
The scary thing is that Martha is 3 years older than Cadi, 4 years older than Sally! Sad.

Rori-isms
Rori is always saying the cutest things! Here are a few samples from yesterday:
Rori and Cadi were playing on the Wii, going through the characters they had made. They came upon a prince that Rori created. Cadi asked if they could delete him but Rori said, "No, I need him. Because I am going to marry him."
Then later, we were talking about the Word of Wisdom for FHE. We were listing things that were healthy and things that were unhealthy. The first thing Rori said about unhealthy things was, "Something unhealthy is being dead." She also said, "Lazy helps your body be bad."
At the end of the FHE lesson, Rori said, "That's a wonderful story."

Crazy Child... I mean, Crazy Day!
Acadia has been looking forward to Jr. High for a few reasons, and one of those being Spirit Week! Opportunities to dress up in school/class colors, PJs, and other crazy clothes. I don't remember all of the spirit days from earlier this month, though I do remember that the Tuesday theme was college/sports teams. She was planning on wearing her BYU sweatshirt. The night before, I was watching the Pats play Miami and told Cadi she could also wear her Brady jersey under her sweatshirt. But she told me that the last time she wore her Pats jersey, she got teased. (I told her to respond by asking who THEY cheer for? The Seahawks??? And if they say yes, to just LAUGH and walk away. Nuff said. ;) ) So, as the game began, Cadi said that if the Pats won that night, she would wear her jersey. And of course, they didn't just win, they CRUSHED Miami! So she wore her jersey, and her BYU sweatshirt the next day. :)
One of the other spirit days that week was Pajama/Crazy Day. I think you're supposed to be able to choose whichever you want to dress for. Well... Cadi dressed for both! It kind of evolved and kept getting more and more crazy, as you'll see in the pics. (She started out just wearing PJs inside out and backwards, then began layering... and then layered some more inside-out PJs and accessories. lol) She wore two shoes while outside, but once inside school, she switched one shoe for a slipper and went around with one slipper/one shoe. Her hair was crazy enough, but at school she added pens and pencils (which you can kind of see in the last pic).
So, she was embarrassed to wear a Brady jersey, despite the fact that he is one of the most accomplished quarterbacks in the NFL, but she was happy to leave the house dressed like this?

Crazy Child, indeed!

Horse Fail
Rori climbed on my back and told me I was her horse while I was laying on the bed talking to Ryan. After a few minutes, she climbed off and offended, said, "Horsies don't talk!" and began to leave. I answered, "I'm going to talk... but I love you." She said, "Love you, too," and I resumed talking to Ryan. Again, I hear her say, "Horses DON'T talk!" "Rori, I'm going to talk." "THEY DON'T TALK!" ... and she stormed off.

Enlightening Dinner Conversation
At dinner, the subject of Justin Bieber came up, followed closely by Acadia's absolute disdain for him. I asked her, curious, what it was that made her dislike him so much? His hair? His music? She said she just didn't like him - she doesn't think he's cute and she doesn't like his music.
So, I asked, just to clarify, if she still liked Jacob Black. She gave me that look... you know the one... the "DUH, Mom!" look. Of course she still likes Jacob Black and she proceeded to describe a poster of him at the Book Fair. I suggested maybe it was his dark skin that she liked. She answered, "No, C and C are white and not dark at all."
It took me a second to realize what she had just revealed. See, I knew about C #1. I did not know about C #2. "Wait, wait," I said, "Who is C #2?"
She began to look sheepish then said, "Um... He's Mormon, too!" Then she gave me a thumbs up. lol
She told me that he is in her science class, is in our stake, plays in band, and that he looks and sounds a lot like C #1, actually, but with more reddish hair. I asked what instrument he played in band and she paused, then with a funny grin said, "He's the only boy flutist in our grade!" I asked if he felt bad about that but she said he thought it was cool.
Cadi's friend was over having dinner with us and I kept saying, "Huh, I didn't know about C #2." To which her friend added, "Yeah, I didn't either! I knew about C #1, but not C #2." "Yeah, me too." To which Cadi said, "Well, everyone knows about C #1!" I asked, "Everyone?!? Does C #1 know about C #1?" She said that she doesn't know if he knows... but that he could. "It might be obvious... I do like to smack him a lot!"
lol Great.
"You 'smack' him?"
"Yeah, I am always kicking him and smacking him - lightly!"
"Um, why?"
"Because it's fun!"
Yeah, okay, I think I can understand that. lol

That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!
Rori gave Cadi a fat lip last night as she attempted to jump into her lap but instead slammed her forehead into Cadi's mouth, whereupon Cadi's braces cut her lower lip. As a result, the following is a conversation Acadia had repeatedly at school today:
Random schoolmate (RS): Wow, what happened to your lip?
Acadia (A): I kind of bonked heads with my sister.
RS: Is your sister older than you?
A: No, I'm the oldest.
RS: How old is your little sister?
A: She's four.
RS: So you got taken down by a four year-old?!?!
A: *pause* Well, this story would have been a lot better if I had started by saying that I was sleeping and she was a ninja!

"When you're older, MUCH older." ~ Charlie Swan
Today Cadi began talking to me about weddings. First, she told me about a crazy dream she had where she was standing at the alter, getting married, and just as she was about to say "I do", she barfed and it was rubbery, so it bounced off the floor and hit her dressed-in-white-soon-to-be-husband. The barf was "blue, red, brown, and yellowy-green... with a dash of orange."
This "wedding dream" discussion led to other wedding type thoughts and discussions. She announced that she could marry someone 6 years older than her. I wondered where that came from and she told me that one of her teacher's parents are 6 years apart.
Then she asked, "How old is Taylor Lautner???"
He is 18; seven years older than she is. She thinks that's close enough. lol

Still hasn't quite sunk in.
A couple of days ago, Sami came to play. *Oh, btw, I learned a week ago that Sami has a blog! And she calls her's "Sami Says". lol So now I'm linked to her in my sidebar, under family. :)* I was taking her home and she asked if we would be going by Cadi's school. I told her no, we would be going down a different street. She asked if Cadi's school was the one that looked really nice, like a college campus. No... it's just a brick building. Then she asked if Cadi's school was the one right next to the high school. Nope, that's the middle school.
Oh wait.
Wait, that is Cadi's school! Oh yeah! I still think of her grade school as her school. Oops. Yes, we would be going by her school, yes it is really nice and is the one Sami thought looked like it was a college, and yes it is right next to the high school. Yes, that is Cadi's school now. Jr. High.
I wonder when it will really sink in?

Her Daddy's Daughter
Rori loves to be a helper and she especially loves to help her daddy. Yesterday, Ryan fixed one of Rori's little toys. When you turn it on, it lights up and the lights spin around super fast while the whole thing kind of vibrates a little. Later that day, as I was laying on the couch, she started poking me and telling me she was giving me nails. Then she would place this toy on the spot she poked, turn it on and "drill" in the nails. Afterwards, she informed me that I was now a deck.
Cracked. Me. Up. LOL
This morning, I came out to find Cadi laying on the couch and Rori turning her into a deck, too. I guess we're a matching set. When she finished with Cadi, she turned to me and asked if I needed more nails. Apparently, she is just as good at maintaining as she is at building! ;)

April Fool's!
Today is April Fool's Day! It's also, my sister's birthday... Happy Birthday Ruth!
I pulled zero pranks today. And while I did not have a prank pulled on me (that I know of! lol), Cadi did... by the Wii Fit!!! lol

I LOVE IT! LOL The Wii also called Acadia by the wrong name... Mariah, I think. lol Then it said, "Just kidding, I know who you are Acadia." lol
Did you pull any pranks or have any pulled on you? Happy April Fool's Day!
