Yesterday Cadi had a couple of her barbies in the tub with her during her bath. Today she was dressing them and started playing. The Ken doll was wearing a prince's outfit.
A few minutes later, we noticed that there had been some water still in the dolls and poor Ken was leaking in a certain spot. :blush:
I said, "Look, it's The Prince and the Pee!"
Cadi responded, "It's Prince Pee and the Potty Problem!"

Whew! What a week!
I LOVE that Sundays are a day of rest. And I LOVE that we honor that!
I need the rest...and so does my family!
So, the Mystery Hostess night was tonight. My sponsor (upline) and I co-hosted it. It was fun. But we were surprised that there weren't alot of people there and the sales were low. :eyes:
But good news...I have a booking for a Starter Show! It's a gal who wants to have a show and if it sells $350 or more, she will get the starter kit for free and become a PartyLite consultant. It will be my first downline! Yeah!
So, even though the night wasn't exactly a complete success, it was successful in some ways. (My sponsor booked a Starter show too!)
In other news, I think I should consider making my candle selling more full-time. That would be to support myself and my young daughter seeing as how my husband is TRYING TO KILL HIMSELF!!!
It isn't entirely his fault. He ended up working all day again - while he is still sick and should be home in bed! Then tonight he went to the church building for a while, came home for food and to put Cadi to bed (he had her with him while I was doing the show) and is heading back to church to finish cleaning and do some other work. He really should be in bed. I would go finish the cleaning for him if I could but Sisters aren't allowed (or are strongly discouraged from) to go to the buildings alone (not even during the day) especially at night. For safety reasons.
My poor boy. He works so hard.

Happy, happy birthday, Ryan dear!
Today is Ryan's 31st birthday.
Ryan's only request was for Cadi and I to meet him on his lunch break for Chinese Buffet. I contacted his boss and arrangeed for him to have the rest of the day off after that. The plan was to get together with friends and go bowling or something.
Then Ryan ruined all my plans! Well, it really isn't his fault. He got sick. Nothing major, just an annoying cold. Its been making him tired though. It got annoying enough that he decided to call in sick to work today and take the whole day off. I told him about my original plans and we decided to play the day by ear. If he felt better, we'd still go out to eat after Cadi got home from school.
Then he got paged.
Even though he had just called in sick, they asked him to come in anyways! They were installing a part on the tool he works on and they really needed his help. Ryan being the most awesome employee they will ever have, got dressed and went in for a full day's work, sick and on his birthday!
So, the new plan is to meet him for dinner on his break later today. I think it would be nice to get together with some friends next week instead.

Four Thumbs Up
For an early Family Home Evening, we went to a matinee showing of The Work and The Glory today.
We really enjoyed the movie, they did a great job! We really like the casting as well. Hopefully they will eventually get to do the other books too, this one just covered the first book. If you get a chance, go see it!
Oh, and it was cool. We got there a few minutes early and right where we were wanting to sit was a gal from our ward, so we sat with her. Then after the movie, we were all getting up and noticed two other couples from our ward there. We were all surprised (only a little) to see eachother there. We joked that it was an unofficial McLoughlin Ward activity.

Celebrate Good Times!
We had a wonderful day today!
Tonight we went over to the Hill's to celebrate Chad's 21st birthday. We also recognized MaryJane's birthday that was a few days ago. (Mom, she said that she appreciated the card you sent her.)
We had a fun time. We always love seeing them. Chelsie came and brought the baby, she is sooooo cute! We kept joking that Chad thought the party was for him, but really everyone was there just to see Quinmrie(sp?)!
We also got great news today from some very good friends. I won't use names (even though the only people I know read this don't know them). Our friends both were very inactive and only recently (within the last 2 years) started coming back to church and making the changes neccessary in their lives to put them back on "the straight and narrow". They have both worked so hard, overcoming addictions, habits, and many months of repentance. A little less than a year ago she was able to go to the temple to receive her endowment. But he, having been a priesthood holder who had already made temple covenants still had a long road before his priesthood rights could be reinstated. He has patiently, humbly and faithfully continued working and waiting for the day that he would again receive the blessings of being a worthy priesthood holder. Today after many, many months of waiting, that blessing was realized!
We were so happy when we got the call! They feel so blessed and grateful! They have been a wonderful example to us. The only thing that they are waiting for now is a little paperwork that will give the final "okay" for them to go to the temple to be sealed for eternity. That might take another month. But at least for now, he can give blessings, be a home teacher, and most especially he can receive a recommend and return to the temple to do temple work.
We love these people so much and feel blessed to be called their friends! They have taught us many things as we've seen just a small portion of their journey. Their testimonies are strong and sure and whenever they share even a part of it, the spirit is undeniably present.

Long Day
Whew! I made it to the end of the day!
This morning started with a YW board meeting at 8 am, which I made the coffee cake for so I was up at 6 baking.
As soon as I got home, I helped to finish Acadia's Powder Puff Derby car (think Pinewood Derby, but for girl scouts) and off we went to race. Acadia did well and got 4th place out of the Daisy Scouts, but just one "place" away from an actual trophy. Bummer, but life goes on.
And so did we, it was back home to change into her dance clothes and we headed over to the dance recital that had been scheduled last week but got postponed due to the ice storm. That was cute, as usual. And it moved along faster than usual which was nice.
So now we are home and I'm tired! Thank goodness tomorrow is "a day of rest"!

I failed to mention...
Yesterday was the 11th anniversary of Ryan and my first date! Wow. 11 years that we've "been together".
Of course, it was I who asked him out. We went miniature golfing at Paradise Island, spent lots of time talking near the jukebox while we waited for the air hockey table to be available.
Then to Pizza Hut for a meatlover's pizza. I knew Mom would like him when he offered a prayer in the restaurant. Then he made me doubt when he nearly inhaled the pizza! You know how it is when all the toppings start to come off when you take a bite? Well, Ryan's solution when that happens is to eat the entire piece at once. :lol:
Then we watched a couple of movies at his place. Why did I agreed to go out with him again after watching a 3 hour Japanese animated movie that was (if I remember correctly) in Chinese with Japanese subtitles? It definitely did not have any English or English translation. And the other movie was worse! It was a scary movie and then on the way home he kept saying the scariest line of the movie! I guess I was smitten by his good looks!
Note to guys: Do's an Don'ts of a First Date. DO go miniature golfing, talk alot, make sure she does well (but you don't have to let her win). DO take her out to eat, pray for the meal. Now the don'ts...DON'T make her sit through two movies that she doesn't care to see. And DON'T try to scare her on the way back home to her house!
I didn't know where to put the inhaling of the pizza. It isn't a Do, but it wasn't so bad that it qualified as a don't. I mean compared to the movies, the pizza inhalation was entertaining!
So, that was our first date. And yes there were more to follow. In fact from that night on, we saw each other everyday (except for 3 days Ryan was back in Massachusetts visiting family) until after we were married. And that says alot because we dated for 2 years before we were engaged and then the engagement was 10 months. There are alot of days in 2 years and 10 months!
Of course, it was I who asked him out. We went miniature golfing at Paradise Island, spent lots of time talking near the jukebox while we waited for the air hockey table to be available.
Then to Pizza Hut for a meatlover's pizza. I knew Mom would like him when he offered a prayer in the restaurant. Then he made me doubt when he nearly inhaled the pizza! You know how it is when all the toppings start to come off when you take a bite? Well, Ryan's solution when that happens is to eat the entire piece at once. :lol:
Then we watched a couple of movies at his place. Why did I agreed to go out with him again after watching a 3 hour Japanese animated movie that was (if I remember correctly) in Chinese with Japanese subtitles? It definitely did not have any English or English translation. And the other movie was worse! It was a scary movie and then on the way home he kept saying the scariest line of the movie! I guess I was smitten by his good looks!
Note to guys: Do's an Don'ts of a First Date. DO go miniature golfing, talk alot, make sure she does well (but you don't have to let her win). DO take her out to eat, pray for the meal. Now the don'ts...DON'T make her sit through two movies that she doesn't care to see. And DON'T try to scare her on the way back home to her house!
I didn't know where to put the inhaling of the pizza. It isn't a Do, but it wasn't so bad that it qualified as a don't. I mean compared to the movies, the pizza inhalation was entertaining!
So, that was our first date. And yes there were more to follow. In fact from that night on, we saw each other everyday (except for 3 days Ryan was back in Massachusetts visiting family) until after we were married. And that says alot because we dated for 2 years before we were engaged and then the engagement was 10 months. There are alot of days in 2 years and 10 months!

I'm so excited... I just can't hide it... I love PartyLite!
We have these great regional seminars every month where all the PartLite consultants get together and we get and share great tips and stuff. We also have fun raffles!
Everytime there's a raffle, the first three numbers are read and everyone says,"I'm so excited...", then the next two numbers, "I just can't hide it...", then the final number is read and the winner yells out,"I love PartyLite!"
Its fun and I sometimes do that when I have a raffle at my shows. Well last night I got to yell out "I love PartyLite!" because I won one of the prizes! Yeah! It was neat because when they held up the item, I said to my sponsor sitting next to me, "I am going to order that soon." Well, now I don't have to! It sells in the catalog for $49.95 (I would have only paid $25 with my discount, but also would have had to pay s/h and tax.) - so I'm excited to get it for free!
Tonight I have a show in Camas. Then next week I have 4 shows! Plus I have a catalog show closing next week. I have a goal to sell $1800 this month and it looks like I'm going to make it! I've been in touch with all the hostesses and they are all very excited about their shows. Now I'm just hoping to get enough bookings off of these to keep the ball rolling.
I am a little concerned about tonight's show. The hostess hasn't done very much inviting. But as of yesterday we were still on...I am going to call her in a few minutes for a last minute pep talk.
Sometimes I wonder why things weren't this easy when I was selling Stampin' Up! I really don't know why people weren't as interested in stamping. But things are working out for me with PartyLite. I have had such an easy time selling candles and I am actually making money. I am really glad that Ruth is having a successful run with Stampin' Up!, especially since I'm relying on her to help me keep in touch with what's going on now that I'm not active anymore! There is a reason for everything, I guess.

Which countries eat dogs?
And how much do they pay per pound?
I am so sick of this endless saga! Once I was foolish and thought I wanted a dog. Now I'm stuck with the dumb one we got and I find myself thinking, "Why didn't I just let him die when he kept trying to kill himself before?"
It all comes down to the stupid tail. It was well over a year ago when he first split it open. The vet said it would just take a couple of weeks to heal. HA! If only!
Instead we have had repeated occurances of this injury. Many times discovering it only after we realize the house has been sprayed, yet again, with blood.
Last time, we put the cone on his head so he'd leave it alone and let it heal...and we all know what that led to. The sore on his neck, which got infected, almost killed him, he wouldn't leave it alone, cost us hundreds of dollars and many weeks in healing, which led to the sore on his feet (from being hogtied to keep from scratching his neck) which is only just now looking better.
Here we are again, back at square one. Ryan looks at the couch weird and says, "What is on the couch? Oh no, did the dog hurt his tail again?" Panick sets in. We jump up and inspect. Yep, sure enough and this time, he was more thorough than ever! I am so sick of this little game he's playing.
So, where does that leave us? We've got this incredibly dumb animal with a super annoying and stubborn injury that just won't go away. I do believe that the only thing dumber than a dog is the person who thinks they need one. Well, I've seen the light and am no longer that foolish. But it doesn't change the fact that I'm still stuck here with this dumb dog!

Acadia came home with a homework assignment for February (A little early, don't ya think?). She had to choose 4 activities to complete by the end of February, I think there are 20-25 to choose from.
Her first choice was to name 10 words that begin with the letter "f". This was an entertaining activity for Ryan and I as she would yell out, "I know an 'f' word!" and "Mom, you said a 'f' word!".
She quickly thought of a few words and the rest of the night Ryan and I were strategically choosing "f" words for our vocabulary. Such as, "Are you finally finished with your dinner?" "Yes, I'm full. It was fantastic!"
Acadia often said many "f" words while she talked with us and we just kept giggling all night as we over emphasized "f"'s and most the time she missed it because she was caught up in the conversation instead of listening to the sounds.

A January Thaw
Literally.
This weekend we were freezing up here! We had freezing rain and an ice storm on Saturday. The results carried over into Sunday until late morning. Even our church meetings were cancelled and we were invited to attend the 1:00 services with another ward. (That was a really neat experience! The spirit was very strong. We had three wards meet for Sacrament meeting together. It was very organized and everything was done in the same amount of time it normally takes a single ward to hold it's services.)
Later Sunday and then yesterday, the weather had warmed to above freezing and the melting began. Last night, Ryan and I were up kind of late and saw the 11:00 news, the weatherman said it was 58 degrees outside. I didn't believe him, so I went outside...it was SO WARM!!! We're at 59 today! Tomorrow it will be sunny and 60!
Ryan and I just got back from working out (This time it was I who worked him past the point of exhaustion! I thought I was going to have to carry him home!) and we found ourselves wishing it was just a little cooler outside, we were far too warm.
We get to keep these temps all through this week and we are enjoying it! Unfortunately, most of the week is also bringing more rain. Some of the other areas in the state are having flooding problems with all the ice melting and now more rain. Luckily we're fine here.
Time to pick Ryan up off the floor and get him to a hot shower.

Ice Ice Baby
So I got a call from Cadi's dance teacher this morning who said that the recital had been cancelled due to the weather. I turned on the news and saw that the roads are all icy! Eeks.
So, I've paged Ryan and I'm waiting to hear from him to make sure he's safe. He left for work a little late this morning.
I am wondering if church might get cancelled tomorrow since we are meeting at 9 am and the roads won't have time to thaw out if they freeze again tonight (or never thaw today).
At least it's nothing like last year's ice storm. When I look out my window I don't see any ice, but all the freeways (especially bridges) and main streets are bad. We've all been asked to stay home today, if possible.
Now I have even more time to focus on housework. Joy.

Buying Time
My PartyLite sponsor and I were planning on having a Mystery Hostess Open House next weekend, but just decided to postpone it to the following weekend. I feel so much better about it now! Its something I want to do, but I felt like it was being rushed and we weren't giving ourselves enough time to prepare. Now I can breath a little easier and I can focus on doing something else today - like laundry.
I'm not going to the gym today. There is a day care there and its not too expensive ($2 for 1 1/2 hours) but I have so much work to do today. I can do some cardio here and a little of my leg work (I have some weights that I can use.). What I especially want to work is my abs and I admit I really like doing them at the gym, but I can still do something here.
Today is Acadia's Winter dance recital. I'll post pictures. I need to make sure she has black tights, if not we're going to the store!

Corona, CA
I just read this article on-line.
Ryan and I used to live in Corona and I bet I know exactly what area's been evacuated. There was this one section in particular that amazed me to no end that houses were built there. Dumb, du - dumb, dumb, DUMB!
Thankfully the town acted quickly to be on the safe side and all of the residents have been evacuated and are safe. Its times like this when we think back to the friends we've made over the years and hope they and their homes are all kept safe.
Of course, the water can take Norco, that town stank so bad, it could use a good washing! :lol: (As long as everyone is safe of course! And they've got their homes insured!:thumb:)

Flying Solo
Yesterday and today I went to the gym alone! I thought I would feel kind of dumb and like a fish out of water or something but I didn't at all. It was fun and I found I got through my workout much quicker. No dilly dallying, just getting the job done. I think I remembered most of all the tips and stuff Ryan gave me. And I feel energized afterwards. The days I went with Ryan I felt exhausted afterwards but I think it was because we went to the spa and sauna. Don't get me wrong - I love them, but they relax me a little too much! When I skip all that, I feel great and don't need to pass out once I get home.
I am also getting an idea of what kind of schedule I can have to make this whole gym thing work. If I leave as soon as Cadi gets on the bus for school, I can get to the gym do my cardio for 45 minutes then about 30-40 minutes of weights and get home in time to shower and still have about 1 1/2 - 2 hours to get work done before Cadi gets home. Whew! But it will work! So...Yay Me!
In other news...Last night was my first Enrichment wearing pants in over a year! :lol: Beckie was a little frazzled yesterday afternoon when I talked to her, but she did so great last night and everything turned out wonderful.
We went on a "Care of Being" cruise. We had each been given passports as invitations and brought them with us. They were stamped as we arrived and then again at each activity we participated in. The activities were Tai Chi, Massage therapy (it felt SOOOOOO good!), and skin and nail care and treatments. I did the Tai Chi and massage class. Word of the day:
Stinkin'
As in "stinkin' traffic" or "stinkin' alarm clock". This is actually not just the word of the day, but the word of the month, or so.
It is also helpful as comic relief. As in "stinkin' commandments" or "stinkin' job". And in case you are worrying that I've gone apostate or ungrateful, the context is usually where we are pretending like we are miffed by having to do something that we really don't mind doing. Or at least recognizing that it's important to do and worth the sacrifice and effort to do so.
Sometimes used to vent at a temptation, such as: "stinkin' ice cream" or "stinkin' Jack in the Box".
Occasionally used when kidding around with eachother: "stinkin' spouse" or "stinkin' canadian" (I just used that one on Landon today.).

Can I take a nap?

Today I went with Ryan to the gym for the first time. I don't really have much of a reason why but I just have never been to an actual gym before. We downloaded a 10 day pass off the internet and at the end of the ten days I will start using the one month free that came with Ryan's membership.
It was fun. We did the stair master first then went to the weights. We did several of the abs and legs machines. Mostly I was learning how to use them. I did really work my legs. I liked the leg press and calf press best. After we were done checking out all the weight machines, we did some more cardio using the stair mill. It's like a mini escalator or something, with revolving steps. It was cool, but after working my legs with the weights I just wasn't up to doing much. So we hit the hot tub and quick showers then came home in time for Cadi to get off the bus.
I don't know if I can get used to changing in the locker room. It just catches me off guard to see people walking around naked! :blush: I actually changed in a bathroom stall today. :lol: Ryan says that he felt wierd the first couple of times, but now it doesn't bother him. But then, he grew up changing in locker rooms for sports and stuff. At least the girl showers have curtains. I still think I'm sticking to changing in the bathroom. I did notice one other person doing the same thing, so I'm not alone. :thumb:
So tomorrow Rye and I are going back and working on arms and upper body. Wednesday will be tough to squeeze a workout in. If anything I might just go to the pool and do laps for awhile. I am going to try to get the most out of the free days I have.
I know I'm doing this right at the start of a new year, but going to the gym really is not one of my resolutions. Ryan's been trying to get me to go for months, but I've been way too busy to commit to it. I finally had the chance and he jumped on it! Of course, I do want to be more healthy and even lose some weight so if this helps kick start that, then great!

The Challenge
Today in Young Women's our Mia Maid class talked about how we can better know our Savior. It was a great lesson! At the end, the teacher challenged us all to live for the next 24 hours as if the Savior was standing by us at all times.
Wow. That is a challenge! And I'm up for it! In some ways it is easy. We came home from church, all of us feeling uplifted and encouraged to "Choose the Right" and "Be Christ-like". We have all been polite, pleasant, helpful, loving...You get the idea. It is wonderfully easy to act the way you would if the Savior was beside you when everyone is being so...good.
But then, there are the little things. I was putting dinner in the oven and just as I was about to leave the kitchen I decided to grab a handful of "Crunch N Munch". :lick: There's nothing wrong with that. But would I have done that if I had company standing beside me? Its kind of a silly thing I guess, but something I stopped to think about.
So, I'm taking the challenge. And I encourage you to take it as well. Live for 24 hours as if the Savior was beside you at all times. At home, at work, at school, in the car, at the dinner table, AT ALL TIMES. I believe we will all experience a wonderful 24 hours!
And if you like the results, extend it - live each day as if the Savior was there. But for today, let's just start with these 24 hours.

A warning and a plea.
Ryan is talking about erasing the hard-drive on our computer again. This means that I might not be on to post for awhile once he starts that. I have no idea how long this will take. I am so computer illiterate that I couldn't even guess. So, if I don't post for a couple days sometime soon, that's probably why.
So, I am asking my webmaster to figure out why my blog shows a blank page so often...and then fix it if possible. I notice that my blog is the only one with this problem. So PLEASE help me Debi!!!

It's amazing what you find when you clean your "junk" room.
I've been working in my craft room, sorting and...well I've only gotten to the sorting part so far. Way back under my work table at the bottom of a box full of miscellaneous stuff was Acadia's Cinderella and Minnie Mouse costumes!
I thought that I put them in there!
Well, the bad news is that I found them about 3 months too late for her to be Cinderella for Halloween last year. But the good news is that they will still fit for at least another year so she can still use one of them this year! That is unless I lose them again! :lol:
I'm thinking that I might just put them in her dress up stuff now. That way at least she'll have fun getting use out of them for now.

Unexpected Opportunity
Yesterday I got a phone call from my PartyLite sponsor saying she was sick and couldn't do a show scheduled for that night. She asked if I could step in and do it for her. I called Ryan and he arranged to come home early to watch Acadia (since she was sick, I didn't want her giving it to someone else). For the rest of the day I rushed to get my stuff together. (I had to change out all the holiday stuff.)
It was a great opportunity for me because I didn't know this person or any of her guests at all - Yay, branching out of my circle! I booked one in-home show for later this month and another catalog show scheduled to close this month as well. I get to keep all the bookings and Sharon and I will split the profits. (She gets 10% and I get 15%) Its not a bad deal for me. Though, I do feel bad that Sharon isn't feeling well and didn't get to do the show and therefore earn all the benefits for herself. I guess I better be really nice to her! :wink:
Acadia is feeling much better this morning and is attending a girl scout meeting right now. They have some ceremony they need to practice for. She kind of likes girl scouts, but doesn't get really motivated or excited by it. I'm leaning towards this being her only year. We'll see.

Acadia is home sick again today. Blah. She is acting much better though so I anticipate this is the end. Yay!
Its rough since she spent all day yesterday moaning and whimpering. :sad: I was not allowed to leave the room, in fact most of the time she wanted me to hold her or sit right by her. Poor thing.
Needless to say, not much got done. Today should be better. I've been able to do the dishes and next to conquer the laundry. She is watching TV and playing with her barbies and a safari toy set she got for Christmas. Yeah, I'd say she's doing better!

Sick-o's
Yesterday was mutual. We rubber stamped greeting cards. The girls did great and really enjoyed it.
I made a card for our Bishopric Counselor who is receiving another round of chemo to treat his cancer. He is a wonderful man, who I gave such a hard time to when he extended this call to me!
I also made a card for the Mia Maid advisor's husband. I don't know if this story made it out of the Northwest, but there was a bank robbery on Tuesday. It took place in Oregon, then there was a police chase up into Washington. This went on for 40 miles. In the end, the police lost him. He had been missing. (I just heard on the news that he has been found, captured and is now in FBI custody.
Well, our Mia Maid advisor's husband is a police officer and was involved in the chase. Brother Tendler's vehicle crashed and was totalled! He was injured and sent to the hospital overnight. Fortunately, he is not seriously injured and is now home.
I did not know about this until we got to the activity. I had taken Thanks Snow Much set (among others) so I made a card with a snowman on the front saying "Before..." and the melted snowman on the inside with "...After." I will be putting both cards in the mail today.
And speaking of today...Acadia woke up a little early and said she didn't feel good. I was sceptical, she had no fever and often likes to complain about not feeling good. But I allowed her to take it easy as we got ready for the day. Then she started throwing up...so I guess she really is sick. Just made the call to school to let them know she won't be in.
We're surrounded by sick-o's here! At least I've only got one at home.
I made a card for our Bishopric Counselor who is receiving another round of chemo to treat his cancer. He is a wonderful man, who I gave such a hard time to when he extended this call to me!
I also made a card for the Mia Maid advisor's husband. I don't know if this story made it out of the Northwest, but there was a bank robbery on Tuesday. It took place in Oregon, then there was a police chase up into Washington. This went on for 40 miles. In the end, the police lost him. He had been missing. (I just heard on the news that he has been found, captured and is now in FBI custody.
Well, our Mia Maid advisor's husband is a police officer and was involved in the chase. Brother Tendler's vehicle crashed and was totalled! He was injured and sent to the hospital overnight. Fortunately, he is not seriously injured and is now home.
I did not know about this until we got to the activity. I had taken Thanks Snow Much set (among others) so I made a card with a snowman on the front saying "Before..." and the melted snowman on the inside with "...After." I will be putting both cards in the mail today.
And speaking of today...Acadia woke up a little early and said she didn't feel good. I was sceptical, she had no fever and often likes to complain about not feeling good. But I allowed her to take it easy as we got ready for the day. Then she started throwing up...so I guess she really is sick. Just made the call to school to let them know she won't be in.
We're surrounded by sick-o's here! At least I've only got one at home.

I am always inspired.
Each time we receive an e-mail from our friend, Joe serving overseas, I feel gratitude for all of our soldiers who are faithfully serving their country and us, their fellow men.
Joe is not allowed to tell us where he is or what he's doing (the last e-mail he sent seems to have been censored), which is more than scary for his young wife and their small children, our friends. It is humbling to know that people are literally risking their lives for me and my freedoms. Their families are risking the loss of their provider, protector and loved one so that I can enjoy peace with my family.

Hello to all,
I meant to write you all sooner to wish you all a merry Christmas, so I'll just have to say Merry "belated" Christmas. I hope that the Holidays found all of you in good health and spirits. I hope that you all took advantage of the season and shared it with your loved ones.
Everything here is going well. On Christmas I **** at ***** with ****** , ***** and ****. Let's just say I had to work Christmas day. Even though I was far from home and family, I still was able to feel the special spirit that accompanies Christmas.
One of the Specialists cooked up a wonderful Christmas dinner for the whole Company on Christmas Eve. It was wonderful and I think we should make him our permanent cook.
As I spend time away from family and friends, and wonder what else these uncertain times that we live has in store for me, my thoughts frequently turn to him who's birth we celebrated a few weeks ago. I have felt his love, very powerfully at times, as I have turned to him for strength and comfort during these trying times.
I want you all to know that I know he lives, that he loves us and that he is nearer to us than we realize. He knows each one of us intimately, and personally by name. He will come to us and comfort us in our times of need when we seek him.
I know that he was born into the world as the literal Son of God and the Savior of all mankind.
I am greatful for the growth, changes and experiences that I am having during this deployment. It's hard at times, but I know that all things, including hardships, are for our own good.
I draw comfort from the Lord's words to the Prophet Joseph Smith during his times of great trial,
"And if thou shouldst be cast into the pit, or into the hands of murderers, and the sentence of death passed upon thee; if thou be cast into the deep; if the billowing surge conspire against thee; if fierce winds become thine enemy; if the heavens gather blackness, and all the elements combine to hedge up the way; and above all, if the very jaws of hell shall gape open the mouth wide after thee, know thou, my son, that all these things shall give thee experience, and shall be for thy good."
I know these words are true for each and every one of us.

Rise and Shine
This is the first Sunday of 2005! And that means that our ward which met at 1:00 p.m. in 2004 is now meeting at 9:00 a.m. Lucky Ryan is now to be at meetings with the Bishopric at 6:30 a.m. every Sunday morning! hehehe
I went to Cadi's room to wake her a little after 7 and she, being her father's daughter, was not too cooperative and wanted nothing more than to stay in bed. :sleep:
"Can't a girl get some sleep?"
Where does she come up with these lines? I almost laughed outloud! But that would have encouraged her, so instead I pulled off all her blankets and promised if she got up and came to the family room, she could have her "blankie" back.
She's now covered with her blanket, lying on the floor infront of the heater. The next challenge is to get her to eat breakfast and have her dressed within an hour. Wish me luck!

Spotted
Yesterday I was making the Lentil Soup and Acadia came into the kitchen with some stickers. She said she wanted to put some on my jeans. I think I said no, but I can't remember.
Fast forward to today. I was sorting laundry and came to the jeans I was wearing last night. Yeah, all the way through midnight. At our friends' house. Yep, those jeans. Two small colorful dot stickers are sitting on my back pockets.
Apparently, she did put stickers on my jeans - on my rear end! And NO ONE told me I was walking around with dots on. Not even when we went over for the New Year's Eve party.
I am so going to kill Ryan for not telling me!

We had a good time last night. We played some games (Phase 10 - yes I lost, as usual!), drank Martinelli's and snacked on veggies, chips, and hot wings:lick:. The kids watched a couple movies and we all made it to midnight to "ring in the new year". Acadia was getting really tired the last 20 minutes of it. She climbed into my lap and begged to go home to go to bed. I told her to lay down on the couch, which she finally did. But she was awake at midnight. :thumb:
