Overheard

As the girls were going to bed...

Rori: I wish someone was sleeping with me tonight.
Cadi:  Well, Rori, if you sleep with your Zulie Zebra and I sleep with my Zulie Zebra, we'll be sleeping with our zebras together.
Rori:  Okay!

And that's what they did. :)

Just doing her homework...

One day, after school, while I was out raking leaves in the yard, Aurora got out a flier she had brought home from school.  It was about healthy habits.  When I came back inside, I couldn't find her, but I saw the flier laying out, with "checks" on each thing that a person should do to be healthy. 


We happened to have some grapes out on the table to snack on that afternoon, so she must have eaten some, then washed her hands, coughed into the crook of her arm, and then...  I chuckled to myself and went to look for her in her bedroom.  Yep, sure enough...


She was getting some sleep, just like it said to do in her schoolwork!

Surprise

Tonight Rori said, "We want to get you a flower for Mother's Day.  It's a surprise."

I answered, "Okay, but if it's a surprise you're not supposed to tell me."

She said, "I'm not.  I'll tell Daddy."

In case it were in question...

Acadia and Aurora are playing.  Acadia is trapping Aurora in her room because she is a cat.  Or so Cadi says.  She keeps telling Rori she can't come out because she is a cat.  Rori keeps yelling, "I'm not a cat!"  And Cadi responds, "Yes, you are!"  To which Rori says, "My. Mother's. Human!"

Glad we cleared that up. ;)

Rori Cuteness

Conversation Rori and I had last night...


Me: Aurora Louise! I want to squeeze you!

Rori: Not this time.

Me: What time then?

Rori: Tomorrow

Me: I can squeeze you tomorrow?

Rori: Sure.


Wait a minute or two...


Me: Aurora Louise...

Rori: Nope, not this time.

Me: Is it tomorrow?

Rori: Yep.

Me: Today is tomorrow?

Rori: Yep.

Me: Then I want to squeeze you!

Rori: Not this time.

Me: But you said it's tomorrow and you said I could squeeze you "tomorrow".

Rori: Not this tomorrow.


She was playing a game on the computer and didn't want me to bug her. I did anyway. lol She was being SO CUTE, I couldn't help it so I DID squeeze her

Friends

Sesame Street talked about friends today. When it was over, Rori came to me and said, "I have friends. You have friends, too." I said, "Yes, it's nice to have friends." She answered, "Yes, it's lovely."

Totally made me smile. :)

Rori-isms

Rori is always saying the cutest things! Here are a few samples from yesterday:

Rori and Cadi were playing on the Wii, going through the characters they had made. They came upon a prince that Rori created. Cadi asked if they could delete him but Rori said, "No, I need him. Because I am going to marry him."

Then later, we were talking about the Word of Wisdom for FHE. We were listing things that were healthy and things that were unhealthy. The first thing Rori said about unhealthy things was, "Something unhealthy is being dead." She also said, "Lazy helps your body be bad."

At the end of the FHE lesson, Rori said, "That's a wonderful story."

Milkin' the cuddles out of ol' mom.

Rori was slow eating dinner tonight. (She is still at the table even though the rest of us are done.) A couple minutes ago, she came to me and gave me a hug, I pulled her onto my lap to hug her, but also told her that she needed to go eat dinner. She told me she needed "cuddles". But she said that one cuddle was too little, she needed TEN cuddles.

Okay, so we sat, cuddled, and counted slowly... 1...2...3...4...5...6...7...8...9...10!

As I started to put her down, she looked at me and said, "Wait, let's do 14 cuddles!" Okay, so I started where we left off, "11...12..." But she interrupted me, "No, let's start at the 'ginning."

uh huh. Okay, why not (I was getting good cuddles out of this!)...

1...2...3...4...5...6...7...8...9...10...11...12...13...14!

But just as I was putting her down, she looked at me and said, "Let's do 20 cuddles! From the 'ginning."

1...2...3...4...5...6...7...8...9...10...11...12...13...14...15...16...17...18...19...20!

This time I did put her down and patted her bum, sending her back to the table.

"Now my bum needs cuddles...?"

Nice try. Go eat dinner, you little cuddle monster!

Just wants to be one of the big girls.

When Cadi had her birthday party, one of the girls was attending from out of town, so we had her stay the night instead of making her family come back to pick her up.  Cadi and her friend camped out in the family room and Rori slept in her own room.  But in the morning, Rori woke up before everyone else and discovered that the party was out in the family room, so she relocated.  The couch was taken and so was the arm chair plus ottoman.  Her solution? 



She's too cute!  She wrapped herself up, got comfy, and went back to sleep!  lol

"Jessie! I love her!" ~ Aurora

We love Disney here.  Of course, having little girls, that means we mostly love Princesses.  But we also love Nemo and Toy Story and Cars, etc.  Currently, Aurora LOVES Toy Story!  She has found some of the toys Cadi used to have when Toy Story and Toy Story 2 first came out.  She plays with them, sleeps with them, takes them everywhere.  Usually she likes to carry them in a bag.  Yesterday, she had another idea...

Bubbles always make me think of the fish on Finding Nemo... or the social services agent on Lilo and Stitch.  lol  Um, yeah, I'm a mom and we watch Disney A LOT!

Her Daddy's Daughter

Rori loves to be a helper and she especially loves to help her daddy.  Yesterday, Ryan fixed one of Rori's little toys.  When you turn it on, it lights up and the lights spin around super fast while the whole thing kind of vibrates a little.  Later that day, as I was laying on the couch, she started poking me and telling me she was giving me nails.  Then she would place this toy on the spot she poked, turn it on and "drill" in the nails.  Afterwards, she informed me that I was now a deck.

Cracked. Me. Up.  LOL

This morning, I came out to find Cadi laying on the couch and Rori turning her into a deck, too.  I guess we're a matching set.  When she finished with Cadi, she turned to me and asked if I needed more nails.  Apparently, she is just as good at maintaining as she is at building!  ;)

Hugs and Kisses

Rori is going through the super-lovey-dovey phase again. And I love it! She always wants to cuddle, give kisses, and BIG hugs. She has been offering "I love you"s several times a day. And yesterday, she melted my heart when she gave me a hug and said, "You're my best friend." ... Gosh, I love this girl. :)

Rori Cuteness

I have three cute Rori stories to share:
  • This morning when I got up, the light was on in her room and she was rummaging through her closet.  I asked what she was doing and she urgently said, "I have a 'Go Pats!' shirt!"  (Her Patriots jersey.)  She wanted it... NOW!  She just had to wear it today. lol  We called Ryan because I knew it would make him proud, it turns out Ryan had a dream about the Patriots last night.  Maybe Rori did too! lol  And now she's been going around saying, "Go Pats!" all morning. lol
  • I'm coming down with a cold and it sounds like Rori is, too.  She tried breathing through her stuffed nose and said to me, "Mom, my nose not working."  I feel your pain girl, my nose not working either.
The sweetest story though:
  • For the last several days, when Rori sees Ryan, she wants to kiss his knees.  I thought she was being silly and doing it because that was one of the easiest places for her to reach when they were both standing.  But last night, she insisted on kissing my head (which she also does frequently) and then said, "There, now your headache all better!" and then turned to Ryan wanting to kiss his knees again.  It dawned on me, Ryan's really been complaining about his knees hurting the last couple of weeks... she's been trying to kiss them better!  And my head, too!  I keep trying to tell her my head doesn't hurt very often anymore, I think she thinks it's because she's been kissing it! lol... Maybe she's right. ;)  She really is such a sweet and thoughtful little girl!

Just your average Sunday...

  • When I got home from my early meetings, Rori came up to me and said, "I feel old."
  • Cadi fell and skinned her knees yesterday.  She was delaying getting ready for church today because she washed her wounds and wanted to them to dry first... Part of the getting ready she still needed to do was to take a shower. lol
  • Ryan made smoothies for everyone this morning.  Cadi just brought me mine while wearing earmuffs.  (The smoothie maker is rather loud.)
  • I sent Rori into her room so we could get her dressed for church.  When I went in there, she was nowhere to be found.  But there was a rather lumpy blanket on the ground.  She wanted to be a pillow.

Before I forget...

We had such a fun day and I have a ton of stuff to share, but it is late and I'm going to bed! But before I go to bed, I need to post two super cute things that Aurora said today...


1.As I was getting her dressed, we were putting a turtle neck shirt on over her head but it hadn't been pulled down all of the way yet. (So her head was covered.) She said, "Look, I'm the Holy Ghost!"

2.We had some family and friends over tonight to celebrate Ryan's birthday and during our get together, Rori walked up to my cousin and asked if she would play "Hide and Don't Find Me".

lol Those two things still have me giggling. :)

Silly Rori

For the last week, as I've been editing our home videos to turn into our annual dvd, Rori has had a lot of fun looking at the video we have. EVERY TIME, she wants to go out and do whatever she is watching us do on the movie. So, she has been wanting to play in the snow, go to the beach, have a birthday party, etc. lol

Now that we have our Christmas decorations up, Rori has been asking repeatedly if we can "go to Christmas." I'm not sure what she means. lol
