As I was reading my scriptures a couple of days ago, I came across 2 Nephi 25:23, 26:
"For we labor diligently to write, to persuade our children, and also our brethren, to believe in Christ, and to be reconciled to God; for we know that it is by grace that we are saved, after all we can do.
"And we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our prophecies, that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins."
Then I remembered something I had read in the Ensign (I can't remember if it was August's, or the new September one that just came out) about journals. It mentions how lots of people have an electronic journal of some sort, but that keeping that journal alone isn't enough if it won't be accessible in years to come. We need to either download the entries and save them on disc or print them to have hard copies.
I felt impressed that I needed to do this, so I spent most of yesterday afternoon printing most of the entries I've made here so far. I left out the jokes an silly quizes and things, but I kept all true journal entries and some of the pictures. That took quite awhile! But I'm glad I did. It is fun to have a blog, but it will be even better if Acadia can read the entries when she is older too.
Also, today is Bruce Gale's birthday! What? You don't know who Bruce Gale is? Shame on you!!!
Bruce Gale is most known in our family as Elder Gale. Elder Gale was Ryan's missionary when he was learning about the church. Elder Gale taught Ryan the gospel and will forever hold a special place in our hearts. So...
Happy Birthday Elder Gale!!!

Playing Time Story
The other day, Acadia was playing with play dough in her toy room. She called me in and told me that I was going to watch a movie about Mt. St. Helens. I entered the toy room to find Acadia had molded a mountain and some small round balls of clay nearby it. She explained that the movie was about to start.
She began by stating that this mountain was Mt. St. Helens. Then she told how Mt. St. Helens' top blew off. As she told me this, she took her play knife and cut off the top of the play dough mountain! It soared through the air and landed on (what I was told was) our house. (At this point she whispered that not everything in this movie was true.)
She then proceded to hack away at the side of the mountain with the knife telling how the mountain blew out it's side. When she had finished this part of the "movie", she directed my attention to the several round balls. These were lava domes. It was a whole lava dome family. She explained that after the mountain blew up, there were lava domes inside it. She placed a lava dome inside the mountain's hole.
Then she started to get silly. (Start?) It was really amazing to me that she came up with this idea on her own and fairly accurately told about the erruption. Good job, Cadi! :thumb:

Let's just cuddle.
BERLIN (Reuters) - A leading German dictionary publisher plans to launch a guide it says will help men translate the subtext of female conversation.
The Langenscheidt publishing group, best known for its well-respected yellow foreign language dictionaries, will launch sales of a 128-page book to translate such baffling female banter as: "Let's just cuddle" into "No sex tonight please!."
"Each themed chapter offers men behavioral tips and exposes hidden messages transmitted by women in everyday situations, such as on holiday or during shopping trips," said Silke Exius, chief editor at Langenscheidt.
Other examples in the "German-Woman/Woman-German" edition due out in October include explaining why a woman asks a man to take interest in the pair of shoes she may be trying on.
She wants him to look because he's about to pay for them.
lol I just find that funny! Do you think I should get Ryan one?
And for anyone who actually pays attention to the time posted on here, yes I am up at 4 am. Cadi had a nightmare earlier and I couldn't get back to sleep. :annoyed: I'll head back to bed pretty soon. (And try to squeeze in a nap sometime during the day!)

Describe your first home after you were married.
I was looking through the drawer in the desk and came across my list of Journal Jar questions. Back when I started this blog, I sometimes chose one to answer on here. So, I decided to do another one...
Describe your first home after you were married.
LOL...okay. Well, when Ryan and I were first married, we were POOR!!! We got a nice one bedroom apartment that we could barely afford even though we were both working (Ryan working two jobs), Ryan was also going to school. Everything we owned, except for wedding gifts and the TV and VCR were either hand-me-downs or purchased second-hand. We did make a point to purchase a small upright piano from a friend. That was important to me since I believe a piano makes a home, at least for me.
We had a tiny little kitchen but that was okay because we didn't have very many kitchen gadgets yet. Besides, I hadn't quite devolped my good cooking skills at that point. I could make some simple dishes and that was enough for us back then.
I laugh as I remember all the pictures on the walls! Everything was from our wedding. Now I have a couple wedding pictures throughout our 4 bedroom house, but back then, there was a wedding picture any which-way you looked! I guess you could say our walls are more balanced now.
The apartment itself was plain. It had white walls and a neutral carpet. Blah. I much prefer painted walls and coordinated flooring these days! It had a pool, hot tub, gym, basket ball court, and I think a sand volleyball court. It was gated and fairly safe. I still made Ryan take all the laudry to the laundry room though. I never felt perfectly safe doing it myself, especially at night.
What else? I just chuckle when I think of that little apartment. I had new bedding (I think a wedding gift) that I really liked. I still like it, but retired it from our home when we moved here to Washington. I was ready for something new, something more "me" now.
LOL Even though we only had one bathroom, I had towels for three different themes!!! One to match the master bedroom, one for the sea shell bathroom that we currently have in our hall bath here, and one that was a more "fun" fish bathroom with bright colors. I would change out which bathroom it was every week or so. LOL Of course, when we moved into a 2.5 bathroom house later, they all came in handy!
I'm trying to think of what we still own that we had back then. The TV and VCR are both still running and are currently in our bedroom. The bed has been replaced, but is in our garage waiting for when it can go back down to my parents for them to use. I have the pictures, but most are stored away and some of the frames have been changed. And of course my dishes, pots and pans are still here. (That's a whole other story!) About half of the towels are still around, but half of the ones still here are now considered "junk" towels. Oh, and I still have a painting that we bought on our honeymoon. All the furniture is different now, even the piano.
Wow, alot has changed. It's been almost 8 years from the time we were first married. Time sure does fly...
We weren't in that apartment for long. Just about 3 months after we were married, Ryan got the job he is with now. When we found out about it, we had one week to make our plans, pack EVERYTHING, put most of it into storage, lug some of it around with us, and say good-bye to the only home I'd ever known, Sacramento. It was never my home again. For along time I longed to move back, but then we moved here. Once we arrived in Vancouver, I knew I was home. With all the moving we've done in the past 8 years, I'm ready to stay put!
Okay, it's your turn...
For those of you married or on their own: Describe your first home after you were married (or moved out).
For those of you still at home: Describe what you want your first home to be like. (And come on, be REALISTIC, or at least include a realistic version along with your fantasy version!)

It closes on Friday and so far there aren't any bidders. I'm keeping my on it and will bid on Friday. Wish me luck! I love those albums!!!

Chocolate Math
Yeah, I thought that would get your attention!
This is very cool! Try it and don't cheat. Get your calculator ready. It really works! For all of you mathematicians out there...
YOUR AGE BY CHOCOLATE MATH
DON'T CHEAT BY SCROLLING DOWN FIRST!
1. First of all, pick the number of times a week that you would like to have chocolate. (more than once but less than 10)
2. Multiply this number by 2 (Just to be bold)
3. Add 5. (for Sunday)
4. Multiply it by 50.... I'll wait while you get the calculator................
5. If you have already had your birthday this year add 1754.... If you haven't, add 1753 .
6. Now subtract the four digit year that you were born.
You should have a three digit number.
The first digit of this was your original number (i.e., how many times you want to have chocolate each week).
The next two numbers are...YOUR AGE! (Oh YES, it is!!!!!)
THIS IS THE ONLY YEAR (2004) IT WILL EVER WORK, SO SPREAD IT AROUND WHILE IT LASTS.

That is my current high score on Bounce Out!!! I can't believe I made it that high! I don't think I'll ever beat it! The next highest score I had was about 115,000 so it is amazing I got up that high! Ryan was talking with a co-worker who was saying the highest he ever got was in the 20,000's.
Yeah, I'm addicted to that game. But at least the house was clean and dinner was over before I played and that's when I beat my record.
I've talked to the sisters about going on splits in the mornings. They usually go in the evenings. We just need to find another sister who can go when I can and I'll be able to do it when Cadi's in school. I don't know if it will be quite once a week, maybe twice a month. It would be cool though. The sisters are awesome!!! I loved visiting with them Sunday night! And I can't help but think of the sisters who stopped Ryan over 11 years ago to ask if he'd like to learn about the church. :thumb:
Today my visiting teachers come. And then I think we'll invite a friend over to play with Cadi. I need to run to the post office to mail some e-bay stuff. Other than that, nothing too exciting happening here. Just some laundry to do and I'll let roomba do the floors. I love my roomba! Ryan read that there is a new model now that can run automatically while you sleep or are away. I wouldn't like that. It's enough to have it running while I'm doing something else. It's good to be able to keep an eye on it.
Ryan is working 13 days in a row. He is covering a shift (yesterday and) today, then works his regular schedule Wed-Sat. Then he works nights Sunday - Tuesday. He gets home Wednesday morning and then goes back in Thursday-Saturday. He'll have Sunday off then go in on Labor day, keep Tuesday off (Cadi's first day of school) and has his Wed-Sat shift again. Whew. Makes me tired to think about it. He's a hard worker! And it will help alot with school expenses.
At first I was bummed that the last couple weeks of summer would be like that, but we had such a full summer, it's not like we would want to do anything even if he wasn't working. So this works just fine. I hope your have a fun end to your summer.
