Acadia and I printed up her supply list and headed to Walmart for all her school supplies. We found everything and she chose a Kim Possible backpack. We headed to Sears for an outfit to wear on the first day of school. She tried on about 5 outfits and we ended up getting two. One I liked best, a really cute dress that looks like a skirt and top. It's very "school girl" and is adorable on her. The other was her choice, a really cute Strawberry Shortcake shirt and skort (looks like a skirt but is really shorts). Both are very cute on her and I'm glad we found such cute clothes...and on sale! :thumb:
We picked up a pair of mary jane style dress shoes for her. They are navy blue and will match half of her dresses! For some reason half of her dresses are blues right now. We need to get her some nicer dress shoes too, but they aren't in the stores yet. I think I'll check on line and see what's available.
So, in two weeks and one day Cadi will head off to school and she is all ready for it! I looked on the school website and learned what school bus she'll be on and roughly what time it picks her up. Tomorrow we start getting into the routines of going to bed on time and waking up on time. Fun stuff!
I can't believe she is going to school already. On one hand, she is very grown-up and is very ready for school. But on the other, when did she get so grown-up? :blush:

It's raining, it's pouring.
I love the rain!
Not only does the rain symbolize a kind of cleansing but if you think about it, it's coming to us straight from heaven. It is also beautiful, refreshing, cool, and I love the way it sounds! Plus if it rains enough, then it looks like I washed my car!!! :lol:
Today was a great day at church. The sister missionaries did a beautiful musical number "I Know That My Redeemer Lives". Sister Ream played the piano and Sister Sorenson sang. They are coming for dinner tonight then I get to go out on splits with them. I'm excited about it! I have only been able to go out on splits once before. It was over 7 years ago, I was a newlywed, we were living in a hotel in Pennsylvania, I had nothing else to do, and it was with a Sister serving from the Sacramento area. It was cold (it was winter) and we were tracking, we didn't get into anyone homes, but it was still a neat experience. We're going out tonight after dinner. :thumb:
We set a date for our boat trip that we are taking with the Bishop and the Williams. It will be Tuesday, August 31. Ryan will have to work that night, but he'll still be able to come. It will be fun. We love the Williams and the Bishop, they are a blast!
Time to go get ready for the missionaries to come!

Busy Day
After Mom and Debi left this morning, Acadia and I ran out to get some shopping done. We got stuff to complete Cadi's toy room, a new carpet for the family room, and some groceries. (I know, really exciting.)
Ryan came home on his lunch break and replaced our mailbox which had been damaged on July 4th. Then he assembled the shelves I bought for the playroom. I have spent all day on getting Cadi's toys in her new room. And we're finally done. It is so nice! I'm really glad with how everything fits.
Now I need to make Spaghetti Diablo for tomorrow night's dinner with missionaries. Then I need to clean up.
I have work to get done in my craft room, but I might wait until I get the shelves up in there that I want. We have a credit at home depot, maybe Ryan will let me use it for shelving. (?) :naughty:
My e-bay stuff is doing well, I think I'll go list some new stuff before I make tomrrow's dinner. :thumb:

A Season of Change
This weekend is going to be crazy! Debi is moving out, we're throwing a party to celebrate (oops! Did I type that outloud?) :lol:, the craft room is moving to Debi's room and all of Cadi's toys are moving to the craft room! Whew!
For the past couple of months, Debi has been without a job and we have been paying her bills to help her out. The arrangement is not working however, so she is going to move back home and hopes to get a job there. It ends up being really good for us because we were wanting to move around the rooms and had been planning on building a room in the garage in order to do it. This way it's quicker, easier, and less expensive. I can't wait to get the new toy room done, I'm thinking about stamping it. But I haven't decided yet so I'm sitting on it until I know what I want to do. Maybe flowers, bees, butterflies, and the like?
Getting the toys out of Cadi's room will mean changes in there too. We are going to take down her bed and replace it with a regular twin bed. I had seen a really cute castle bed that I wanted to use but I don't think it's available anymore. Too bad, it would have been perfect. Maybe I'll find it somewhere else.
The timing of the move is good since Cadi starts school in two weeks. Debi's been a great live-in babysitter and that will be an adjustment to do without. But with Cadi gone every morning I think things will work out just fine. It would have been fine with Debi staying too, it's not like we've been waiting around for her to leave.
Cadi's a little sad that she'll be gone, but she was a trooper when we told her and seems to be taking it very well. She's is really looking forward to starting school. She gets to ride the bus with her friends and she's been talking about all the art projects she wants to do. I am excited for school to start too. It will be nice to have the mornings quiet and free. I can get errands done, keep the house clean (having a toy room is really going to help with that!), volunteer more with church and school, stamp more, and who knows what else.
Ryan is gearing up for school too. He is testing out of some of his classes first though so he's got alot of studying to do before school even starts! He will be taking one class this semester, one class in Winter, then two or three classes in spring. We'll have to pay for the extra classes so we are saving up. It means changes to our budget, so we will be spending less on gifts we give and alot less on our "vacations". Most of our vacations are to visit family, so that means fewer visits. Hopefully if anyone wants to see us, they'll decide to come here. It's certainly a good place to visit and worth the trip.
One trip we are definitely doing next year though is whale watching in Vancouver, British Columbia for my 30th birthday! I decided that would be pretty much the only thing that could top swimming with dolphins on my 29th birthday! It has been another life long dream to see killer whales in the wild and since it's so close, why not?
In other news...How about Paul Hamm?!? Can we say AWESOME!!! When Debi came into the room mad that she read a spoiler, I was afraid he wasn't going to win, then when he fell (almost in the judges' laps!) I was sure he was out. I believe my exact words were, "There goes the Gold." Debi was great and admitted that when she saw who had won, she just read the whole thing and learned about the fall. I was sitting there thinking she already knew someone else had won. When other mistakes were made by others and Paul made up some points, I thought well maybe he'll get bronze...if he's really lucky silver...but I never thought he's do THAT awesome and pull off GOLD!!! So cool! Tonight is the women's turn. Let's hope they have as much luck on their side!

Check your mail!
Today is Mail Order Catalog Anniversary...I love them! You can find some cool stuff in some catalogs. But, I also love shopping in the stores and at the mall, so I don't really order from catalogs very often.
Ryan's out working on his schooling plans with an advisor. His job is supposed to reimburse for schooling up to 2 classes a semester, but yesterday they told Ryan they won't reimburse the full amount. Basically, they've adjusted the policy. Now it looks like he'll just take one class this semester. He is also looking for another job. The problem is that most companies have schedules that make it hard to take the classes Ryan needs. We are still hoping that Ryan's company will change the policy back to what it should be and we'll be able to stay with them, but for now we just don't know what to expect. Ryan told them back at the beginning of summer that if they didn't pay for his schooling he'd leave. Yesterday he told them he's sending out resumes. Maybe it will be enough to make them change their minds. They are understaffed in his position and really can't afford to lose him. Not to mention, he's right. And they know it.
So, in other news...We watched the Olympics last night (of course). Too bad the women's gymnastic team couldn't pull off a gold medal, but Romania really was better last night and they deserved it. Silver is good too. Phelps is still doing awesome along with the other guys on the relay last night! But the boy needs to pull up his shorts! I just don't know why they have to be so low cut. Well, 5 medals down, 3 to go for him!
I'm looking forward to synchronized swimming. I don't know when it's supposed to start, but I'm watching for it. Tonight it's Paul Hamm going for best all-around, then tomorrow the girls try for it. Good luck to them!

Camp Out
We've had our tent up in our backyard for awhile. First it was to air it out after camping in Florence. Plus we used it to "house" some of my family when they were visiting. But that was about a week ago and we haven't taken it down yet.
So last night, Ryan suggested we camp out. Acadia, Ryan and I slept out in the tent. At first we talked about telling stories and exploring the marsh at night with flashlights, but in reality we stayed up late watching Olympics. Acadia fell asleep on the family room floor and Ryan had to carry her into the tent when we went to bed.
Then at about 5:45 am, Ryan decided to move us all back into the house. He needed to use the facilities and didn't think he'd be able to get back to sleep when he got back because people would be starting their cars for work soon. I was so comfy and sleeping so well that wanted to stay, but he moved Acadia and they went in, so I followed. I told him he was a wuss.
It was fun though.
Hooray for our Men's Gymnastics team! Silver Medals! Japan was awesome and won Gold. Ryan is going to e-mail some Japanese co-workers and congratulate them. And we got a couple golds in swimming! Not bad. Phelps took bronze in the race agains Thorpe, but at least he medaled and keeps his chance to win 8 medals this Olympics! Impressive. Tonight Ryan and I are planning on going on a date, but I don't know what we'll want to do, so far we've been watching the Olympics every night, I'm sure we'll be wanting to tonight too. Isn't it Women's Gymnastics?
