I'm so glad when Daddy comes home!

The kids sang that song for the fathers in church today.  It was very sweet.  It was especially cute when one of the little girls got stage-fright and cried to her daddy that she was scared.  Kind of made the point if you think about it. :)

Earlier this weekend, I asked Ryan what he wanted for dinner on his special day.  I was prepared to make any dish he requested.  His request?  Frozen pizza.  Yep, that's what he wanted! lol  So, that's what I got him!  Easy enough for me! ;)

Ryan didn't get tools this year.  *Awwww, poor guy*  He got a new cordless razor since his old one is really ready to retire.  He was excited to get it, even if it was kind of practical. lol  The girls also gave him a children's book about dads.   

Yeah, he's a pretty good dad.  We like him.  It's not always easy being a dad, but this is how good of a dad he is:





















Yeah, it's not easy to be the only guy in a house full of girls.  Especially not these girls! (Drama, drama, drama! lol)  But he does a pretty good job.  And we love him!  Happy Father's Day, Ryan!

Summer Piano Recital

Today was Acadia's 2nd piano recital and she did really well!  I have to admit that I was a little nervous about it because she has been so NOT interested in practicing.  And though she could have worked on her timing a little more (and next time I need to remind her to spit out her gum before performing!), she did a very good job.  But don't take my word for it, see for yourself!

Now, this was a shocker!  As I said earlier, Cadi has been quite uninterested lately - getting Summer Fever, I think!  But somehow she still managed to be the student with the most stickers again!  Here she is with her new figurine, this time of Toscanini.

Momma, Momma!

When I was growing up, we called my parents, "Mama" and "Papa". A lot of people thought that was cute and sweet. I outgrew it as soon as I realized it really wasn't "cool". lol I've never prompted my girls to call us those names at all. Of course, as babies they both have babbled, "Mamamama", but Cadi really never took to calling me "Mama" and I was okay with that.

However, Rori continues to be the exact opposite of Cadi. She has taken to calling out, "Momma, Momma!" Not "Mama", definitely "Momma". Yes, there is a difference. That first syllable is definitely pronounced differently. And it is SO CUTE!!! I absolutely LOVE it!!!

One day, perhaps I'll get it on video. For now, most of you will simply have to take my word for it. ;)

Historic Game

I'm admittedly not a huge basketball fan. I don't really follow it at all. If I'm going to route for a team, it will usually be the Sacramento Kings simply because they are the only big name team from my home town. (Why couldn't we have a football team???) However, during the NBA play offs this year, I have been beside Ryan in cheering on the Celtics. Why? Well, two things. First of all, the Celtics are Ryan's hometown team. And more importantly, I really don't like the Lakers. Don't even get me started about the 2002 play offs!!!

So I've been happy to cheer on the Celtics this series, hoping to see them - or anyone - beat the Lakers. I was very happy that they won the first two games. And I knew that once they got to LA, the Lakers would start winning. Before the game even started last night, I expected a loss. Not to be negative or anything, it just made sense. They were in LA and the Lakers were going to fight hard, they hadn't lost in their own stadium for months, and they would have the home team advantage.

I missed the first quarter. When I finally got the channel changed to see how it was going, I cringed! We were down 21 points!!! I watched most of the second quarter. It was painful!!! I text messaged Ryan little updates, glad he wasn't here to see it himself. During halftime, I changed channels. I was slow getting back to the game, so when I joined in half way through the third quarter, I was surprised to see the lead had been narrowed a bit. The Celtics kept it going and by the end of the third quarter, it was a 2 point game! Incredible! At one point in the 2nd quarter, it had been a 24 point game! But here, with 12 minutes left, they had a chance - it was really anyone's game!

Ryan got home for the last five minutes of the game. The Celtics had finally taken a lead, for the first time in the game. As the clock ticked down, the Celtics were able to hold their lead. And amazingly enough, in front of a stunned LA crowd, the Celtics won the game! A HUGE comeback! A HUGE win! They not only won the game, they held their lead in the series, now 3-1.
I really don't know if they'll win on Sunday. I expect the Lakers to come back fighting for their lives - they have to! But I do expect that if there is a game 6, once the Celtics return to Boston and are infront of their home crowd, they will finish it. I don't say this often, but... Go Celtics!

Acadia got into a fight with the teather ball rope... and the rope won.

I'm hoping she will post more details on her blog since it's been over two months since her last post. I haven't seen her yet. The school called right at the early part of Rori's nap and since Ryan was working at the Vancouver office today, he was able to swing by the school, check her out, and then decided to keep her with him, so they are both at his work right now. Clearly, the injury is not life threatening. lol But it was apparently enough to get her out of school for the remainder of the afternoon.

No worries, she is still her spunky self. I had posted a comment on her blog noting how long it had been since we had heard from her and when she got to Ryan's work, she responded to me via e-mail:

Did you catch that? "leave me alone." She is apparently well enough to talk back to her mother... in an e-mail! lol

I looked down the hallway and what did I see? Popcorn being stacked by my silly Rori!

Don't ask me why I currently have 25 boxes of microwave popcorn sitting in my entry.  Okay fine, ask.  I don't think anyone that shouldn't know yet is really reading here anyway.  We're working on a little Father's Day handout for the guys at church.  Ya know, all the "Pops"... yeah, yeah, I know.  It's kinda corny.  Hehe... kinda "pop"corny.  Man, I'm such a dork!

Anyhow, I have 25 boxes of microwave popcorn in the entry and Rori found them.  I looked over to see what she was up to and this is what I found...





After making a few little stacks, she decided to make one really tall stack:







Of course, after her leaning tower of popcorn fell, she just went back to building it again.  Over and over, the game went on.  She clearly thought it was great fun!  Actually, I think it might have been just as fun for me to watch her.  It was rather entertaining! lol

Booked flights, one week left of schoo, and where is the sun?

We've been wanting to make a trip out to the East Coast for awhile. Ryan's grandma lives in North Carolina and we realize that time is going by fast. We really want to visit her before her health gets any worse. So yesterday we booked our flights to go see her and some other family members that live in that area. We are so excited! It's a little more than a month away still but I'm already wanting to pack! lol I'm just really excited for the trip, I guess! :)

In the meantime, one week from today is Cadi's last day of school. And even more exciting, one week from today Cadi's "twin cousin", Julie will arrive! We are so looking forward to having her here with us for a week and a half!

Even though schools here are getting out so much later than other parts of the country, I can't believe it's already the last week of school! Exactly one week left! Time is flying by so quickly! But I guess that's good because that means that summer is literally on our doorstep! Hopefully the sun will get the memo. I hear it's supposed to clear up in a day or so, I am looking forward to that. I really don't mind the rain and clouds but since it is the beginning of summer, it would be really nice to have some sunny, warm days now! lol
