Would-be birthdays never go unnoticed, even if only by me. But I will admit that this one wasn't as hard as the previous ones.
Yesterday I had a moment with Rori that just solidified my faith in the Lord's plan for my family. We were hiking in the Gorge (pics from that will follow in another post) but Rori got hungry, so she and I quit early, headed to the car, and I fed her. I had some music on and when she was done feeding we just "played". I sang to her and she was just smiling and talking. She was so happy.
It just never ceases to amaze me how happy she is. She is a very easy baby to care for. And I just feel like she is just happy to be here. I almost feel like she waited just as long to come here as we waited for her to get here. (Does that make sense?) I know I appreciate what it means that she's here... I really think she does too.
"Come What May" came on the CD and I just thought how appropriate it seemed to be for me right then. I feel different now that I have Rori. I can't explain it but I just feel different. I think I'm happier. Maybe I have more peace? I don't know. But I do know that last year on this day, I was very, very sad. All I could think of what could have been, what seemed like should have been. Even though I trusted the Lord, it still hurt. Now I won't say the pain is completely gone. But it pales in comparison to how it was last year. I am so grateful that things have turned out the way they did. I am so grateful to have Rori now.
Come What May
Never knew I could feel like this,
Like I've never seen the sky before.
Want to vanish inside your kiss,
Every day I'm loving you more and more.
Listen to my heart, can you hear it sing?
Telling me to give you everything.
Seasons may change, Winter to Spring,
But I'll love you, until the end of time.
Come what may,
Come what may,
I will love you until my dying day.
Suddenly the world seems such a perfect place,
Suddenly it moves with such a perfect grace.
Suddenly my life doesn't seem such a waste,
It all revolves around you.
And there's no mountain too high, no river too wide,
Sing out this song and I'll be there, by your side.
Storm clouds may gather and stars may collide,
But I love you, until the end of time.
Come what may,
Come what may,
I will love you until my dying day.
