Blogger's Block

I think I'm in a blogger funk. I want to blog, I really do... I just draw a blank whenever I think of what to blog about. Maybe I just need some randomness:

•Valentine's Day was low key but still perfect. :)

•The Olympics are so fun to watch! But they are keeping me up late every night. Mornings come early and it's taking more and more to get my butt to the gym.

•I feel discouraged regarding all things weight-loss. I'm working out and I'm watching what I eat. (The weekend was really bad though, so I can't in all honesty say that I'm being super strict about it... but most of the time I have been good.) But I'm seeing ZERO results. Maybe I need to buckle down and start being super strict, even on fun weekends with family. :S

•But that being said, I did notice it is easier to bend over and tie my shoes. ;)

•I took Cadi to see the Percy Jackson movie last Friday. I still need to read the books. She has read them all. We liked the movie.

•I think the weather has forgotten where we live and what time of year it is. We have had a SUPER mild winter! We haven't gotten nearly enough rain, either. But I'm still going to enjoy the sunshine from now until Sunday and try to get some work done in the yard between now and then. But once I'm done with my stuff, it really should start raining again - and snowing in the mountains.

•I just realized that I booked Acadia's next ortho appointment on an early release day for school, there will be no point in her going at all, so I guess she gets a day off from school next week! ;)

•I finished a gift for my cousin's new baby but I can't post a picture of it here because I have no idea if she ever reads my blog... I need to get it to her soon, then maybe I'll post a pic.

•I've started another gift for a lady who works at Cadi's school who is due to have a baby in a couple of weeks. I don't really know her well, but Cadi does and so I thought it would be fun... I'm liking my project so far. :)

•There isn't really much on our calendar for this Saturday and I'm trying to keep it that way. Weekends always fill up so fast; it would just be nice to not have our day booked solid.

•I haven't had a migraine for a couple of weeks, and before that it was about a month, so even if I don't have "success" losing weight, I think our new diet and my exercising are still totally worth it. It would just be nice to see other results, too.

•I hope we get gold in men's figure skating.

•Johnny Weir is totally weirD! But he's a pretty good skater. If he skates really well tomorrow, maybe he can make it on the podium, too. It would be good to get two medals. :)

•I need to bake a cake tomorrow. And then I need to give it away. (See above complaints about weight loss. lol)

•And now I need to go because it's time for me to hit the gym. :)

Nobody's Perfect

As I sit here looking at one of my favorite wedding pictures and thinking about just how much I love this man, I am reminded that as much as I love him, it has not always been easy.  We've been married for over 13 years.  That's a long time.  Not nearly as long as I want to be with him - I never want to be without him!  But still, it's a long time!

I've said it so many times before and I will say it many more times to come, I am not perfect.  And he is not perfect.  But we are so perfect for each other.  That doesn't mean we always see eye to eye, it doesn't mean we don't fight, it doesn't mean that our feelings don't ever get hurt.  It means that through the good times and the bad, we make each other stronger.  Even when I'm upset with him, because I love him, I want to overcome my feelings (and usually pride) to make things right again.  I think everytime we do that, we become better people and I know our relationship is made stronger.

Ryan is my very, very best friend.  No one knows me like he does.  He can read every look, interpret every action, predict every response... maybe not perfectly, but pretty darn close.  He knows what makes me vulnerable and tries to protect me from those things.  He loves me no matter what and makes sure I know it.  Sometimes I think his love is blind. ;)  Maybe it's more that he sees what no one else sees, a glimpse of what my Heavenly Father sees, so maybe he's actually seeing things more clearly than anyone else, including myself.  We all deserve someone who will see us like that.

Like I said, it hasn't always been easy.  We've dealt with some very difficult things, not all of which have been publicly shared, but what marriage hasn't?  Sometimes I think people look at a person/couple/family and see what is visible on the outside and assume that everything is perfect there, then they feel bad because their situation is different, they are unhappy or struggling with something.  Life is real.  And it's real hard.  And anyone who claims to have the perfect life, isn't being honest with themselves or anyone else.  We all have trials.  The key is to trust that we can learn and grow from every experience we have.  When you see someone so obviously happy, realize that they have had heartache and trials, too.  They may even be experiencing them right now, but they still find joy in the journey and you can too.

Nobody's perfect.  No marriage is perfect.  I'm just so grateful that I have such a great imperfect person to share my imperfect life with.  Because that makes me perfectly happy. :)

Valentine's Dance

Tonight we are celebrating Valentine's Day.  Our stake is throwing it's annual Sweetheart Ball and it's always such a great time!  Tonight Ryan and I are meeting friends there while the kids stay home with our friends and my cousin to watch movies and eat chocolate.  :)

Earlier today, I took Cadi and her friend to see the Percy Jackson movie.  It was pretty good!  Acadia says the book is better, but isn't that usually the case? ;)

And now I'm off to spend the evening with my valentine... Have a great weekend! :)

You Are a Content Valentine
While you don't put all your hope in Valentine's Day, you do think of as a holiday to spark some romance.
You prefer a holiday that's romantic, cozy, and very intimate. You don't need your partner to pull out all the stops... just a few stops.

The most important thing about Valentine's Day is who you spend it with. You could make a fast food dinner special.
That's not to say you don't want to be wined and dined a little by your Valentine. You just aren't looking for a whirlwind trip or an expensive gift.

And this is what it looks like...

... when Rori plays the wii:

LOL  When I saw her laying on the floor as she played it made me laugh.  She really doesn't usually lay down, but I had to take a few pics when I saw her doing it. ;)

Fun with the Hills

We have recently been spending a lot of time with my family in Camas.  We sure do love them and have so much fun!  It's great because Acadia and Sami like hanging out and have been enjoying occasional sleepovers together.  Last weekend, we had a birthday dinner for Chad, Mary Jane, and Ryan.  My cousin, Sarah is in town with her baby Trey.  We had a lot of fun and I took some pics:

In case you were wondering, our family rocks...
