I'm loving this weather! Yesterday I spent a few hours out weeding in the backyard. I am only half done but the yard refuse can is already full... I guess it will have to wait a few more days. But I did enough that I can start planting some of the bulbs I've gotten and I'm excited to be back out in the garden again.
Last year, when we madeover our yard I was so excited but also worried - what if I lost my motivation and just let it all go wild again? Having the winter off made me worry that I wouldn't want to get back in the habit of going out to weed, water, prune, etc. routinely once spring arrived. But not so! Yay! I have been itching for good weather so I could go out and get working on it. And the stars have alligned now - the weather is good and I have a little time, so that's where I'll be in my spare time now!
We only did part of the backyard when we did our makeover last year, so I'm hoping to get that completed this year, while maintaining and improving the front yard, too. Lots of fun stuff! And hopefully it will result in some pretty pictures in the future, too. :)

It's like watching a horror film...
I'm working on transferring my old blog posts to this new site. I've done a lot but still have a long way to go. I just finished January 2008. And I'm finding it interesting...
In the last few months I've reposted, it's very interesting to me to note my thoughts and impressions. The me now knows what is to come, but the me then has no clue. lol
For instance, my posts about feeling the need to grow spiritually, wanting to show the Lord that I will follow Him, being excited about Rori going into nursery and thinking it would be my luck to get called as a nursery leader lol, being so happy about Ryan's new position (and therefore new work schedule), etc.
I feel like I'm watching a horror film and the clueless girl is about to get attacked by someone hiding behind a door. "No! Don't go into that room!!!" But instead it's, "No! Don't answer the phone! Don't go meet with the Bishop!!!" lol
It's right around the corner and even though it already happened - three years ago!- I feel nervous all over again just thinking of reposting those posts. Silly, huh?
And you know, it hasn't even been a horror film. It's been a great experience that I am so grateful for. I have learned so much and my testimony and understanding has grown more than I thought it could. There are hard parts about this calling and there are times that I wish that the responsibility wasn't mine, but overall I feel extremely blessed to have been asked to serve.
I still don't know how this story ends mind you, maybe there's still time for it to turn into a thriller after all, but I suppose for now the clueless girl is safe to enter the room. So far it's been pretty tame. ;)

Fish Eye Mode
I am SO EXCITED to have my new camera!!! It is a Canon sx30is and is so simliar to my old camera (the one that died last fall) that I can navigate it easily, but so much better that I'm having fun playing with even better zooms and fun new modes.
One of my new favorite things? The fish eye mode! We've been having fun with this one, check it out:

Most of the pics I've taken to "play" with it have been boring so far, just zooming in on things with and with out extra lenses to see the difference, pics taken with and with out the external flash, trying different filters, etc. It's fun! I can't wait to learn more about what I've got and what I can do with it. :)

Spring Strings Festival
Last night, Acadia participated in an orchestra concert. Here she is, along with fellow 6th graders from 3 different schools in the area, playing "Medieval Kings" and "Ode to Joy":
We had to get there early, so I kept Rori entertained by taking some pictures of her...

The concert was really nice! The kids did great! Good job, Cadi! :)

Postin' it up!
So, I've made the switch to Blogger and am in the process of moving all of my past blog posts. I know that a few of you have already subscribed to this blog, and to you I totally apologize for inundating you with blog posts galore! To make it more complicated, if you truly were wanting to follow new posts, I'm mixing the occasional new one in with the hundreds of past ones... and I totally DO NOT expect you to be reading them all! lol
I will let you decide if you want to hold off on your "subscription" until the back posts have all been posted or not. If it were me, I probably would. (Hold off, that is.) And I'd just check in every day or two to see if new posts were really posted. :S Rest assured, on the blessed day when I AM all caught up, I will let you know... I'll be singing it from the rooftops! As it is, I still have just over 4 years of posts to do.
In addition, if anyone is keeping track... I am not posting every litte bit that was originally posted. I'm leaving out silly quizzes and memes that don't really consider terribly important. I have also (for convenience and especially time) been selective in what comments to keep. I simply don't have time to transfer them all, so most are not making the cut. I have always appreciated comments, so I do feel bad, but it just isn't practical to keep them all. I am keeping some though; ones I simply do not want to lose, whether for the information, or sentimental reasons, or whatever whim makes me decide to cut and paste it. There may not always be rhyme or reason. :S
So bear with me, this process will take awhile. But I do have a deadline, so it won't take forever. :)

Good thoughts from a good friend.
I'm going to be honest, I had a rough week last week, especially the weekend, and I'm really glad it's over. I vented/counseled with one of my counselors last night and this morning she sent me this e-mail. It was just what I needed. Thanks, Hanna! :)
A young lady confidently walked around the room while leading and explaining stress management to an audience with a raised glass of water, and everyone knew she was going to ask the ultimate question, 'half empty or half full?'..... she fooled them all... "How heavy is this glass of water?", she inquired with a smile.
Answers called out ranged from 8 oz. to 20 oz.
She replied, "The absolute weight doesn't matter. It depends on how long I hold it. If I hold it for a minute, that's not a problem. If I hold it for an hour, I'll have an ache in my right arm. If I hold it for a day, you'll have to call an ambulance. In each case it's the same weight, but the longer I hold it, the heavier it becomes." She continued, "and that's the way it is with stress. If we carry our burdens all the time, sooner or later, as the burden becomes increasingly heavy, we won't be able to carry on."
"As with the glass of water, you have to put it down for a while and rest before holding it again. When we're refreshed, we can carry on with the burden - holding stress longer and better each time practiced. So, as early in the evening as you can, put all your burdens down. Don't carry them through the evening and into the night... pick them up tomorrow.
Whatever burdens you're carrying now, let them down for a moment. Relax, pick them up later after you've rested. Life is short. Enjoy it and the now 'supposed' stress that you've conquered!"
1 * Accept the fact that some days you're the pigeon, and some days you're the statue!
2 * Always keep your words soft and sweet, just in case you have to eat them.
3 * Always read stuff that will make you look good if you die in the middle of it.
4 * Drive carefully... It's not only cars that can be recalled by their Maker..
5 * If you can't be kind, at least have the decency to be vague
6 * If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it..
7 * It may be that your sole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.
8 * Never buy a car you can't push.
9 * Never put both feet in your mouth at the same time, because then you won't have a leg to stand on.
10 * Nobody cares if you can't dance well. Just get up and dance.
11 * Since it's the early worm that gets eaten by the bird, sleep late.
12 * The second mouse gets the cheese.
13 * When everything's coming your way, you're in the wrong lane.
14 * Birthdays are good for you. The more you have, the longer you live.
15 * You may be only one person in the world, but you may also be the world to one person.
16 * Some mistakes are too much fun to make only once.
17 * We could learn a lot from crayons. Some are sharp, some are pretty and some are dull. Some have weird names and all are different colors, but they all have to live in the same box.
18 * A truly happy person is one who can enjoy the scenery on a detour.
19 * Have an awesome day and know that someone has thought about you today.
