Today Acadia's school had "Muffins with Moms Day". It was fun. We went in early and had blueberry muffins and apple juice. All the moms got a carnation. We read a couple of books, then when it was time for class to start, Acadia gave me a couple of presents.
One is a paper flower with her picture on it. The other is a book where she wrote a bunch of stuff about her and me. I learned that not only do we look alike (which is very true), but apparently we BOTH have red hair. ??? Okay. It was sweet though and we had fun.
Then I ran over to buy the rest of the paint I'll need. Yeah!!! I think I'll still wait until next week to finish. I need to catch up on some cleaning that has been neglected. lol
Plus, I need Ryan to remove the large mirrors in the dining room first. Say "Bye-bye"...no more of views of yourself eating! (Thank goodness!) In it's place will be the large floral painting we bought in Bar Harbor. I'm so glad it will find a home in our house - I've missed it!

Movin' Right Along
Yes, I realize that these posts about me painting are probably pretty boring. So... don't read. Since all I've been doing this week is painting (it seems), it is all I have to post about.
So, "Yay!!!" I have just finished painting the living room!!! This is a huge deal! I'm not sure why, but it is!
I still have a small laundry area in between the living room and kitchen that I'm going to paint, but I can easily and quickly do that either later today or tomorrow. Then all I have left is the family and dining rooms. I still need to get the paint for that though.
My next goal (after painting) is the crown molding for the living room and my master bedroom. Then I want to get the flooring in the living room. And finally, the base molding for the living room (along with replacing the base molding in the entry and hall).
It feels like the end could actually be in sight now! After all the home-improvement projects we've done over the last year, that just feels awesome! Once these projects are done, there will still be things on the "to do list". For one, we are hoping to put in central heat and air this year. And then we want to turn our attention outside. We will need to reroof soon and our yards are both in desperate need of a make-over. Someday I want new siding on our house, too - but that is way down the road!
For now, I'm loving how great the place looks with the new paint!

What makes today special?
Does anyone know? Okay then, I'll tell you.
Nine years ago today, Ryan and I (along with one of my best friends, Sarah) went to the Oakland Temple to receive our own endowments! To be honest, I don't remember that much. Most of what I remember is preparing for it and then the amazing feeling I had afterwards.
I remember bearing my testimony in church the following Sunday and describing how I felt - like I had been wrapped up in a big, soft, warm blanket.
It's interesting that this last Sunday I was asked by our Mia Maids teacher to substitute teach. The lesson was on the temple endowment and how to prepare to enter the temple. It was a great reminder for me.
I'll share with you one of the object lessons I used...
The Celestial Kingdom is like Minas Tirith. For those of you who are not familiar with LOTR, Minas Tirith or The White City is a beautiful (white) city built into the side of a mountain. It is made up of seven levels. You enter at the base and at the top you would find the Steward of Gondor (or at the end of LOTR, you would find the King of Gondor).
In order to enter the city, we must be baptized. But that really just gets us in the door. If we desire to reside where the Steward or King (or Heavenly Father) lives there are other ordinances that have to take place as well. As we make covenants and receive these ordinances we are able to be closer to Heavenly Father, just like moving up to higher levels in the city will take you closer to the Steward or King.
It isn't a perfect example - there aren't seven ordinances like the seven levels of Minis Tirath, but the idea was to try to help the girls understand why the endowment and other ordinances (like Sealings) are so important. They know that they needed to be baptized in order to enter the Celestial Kingdom, but did they realize that there are different levels of glory within the Celestial Kingdom and that baptism alone is not enough to reach our ultimate goal in returning to live with our Heavenly Father?
Well, I hope that it helped them to understand a little better why we need temples and how they help us reach our goal. And if it didn't, at least I got to draw a picture of Minis Tirath in church! lol

Teacher Appreciation Week
Today I helped in the classroom again. I usually go every other Wednesday. Today Mrs. Heideman had me start working and as soon as the kids got back from Library, Acadia came up to me in the closet (like a little work station for the teachers) and told me I couldn't come out because they were working on Mother's Day gifts. I had to spend the entire two hours working in that closet!!! But I got a TON done for Mrs. Heideman. And I am really glad - it is Teacher Appreciation week, and I really appreciate her! Teachers work so hard and are so patient! So...Apprectiate your teachers this week!

Just for Eddie...
Yeah, I finally got to bed a little after 4, then had to get up at 7. Yesterday was lazy and yet busy. Had a YW presidency meeting then we took Acadia to see Polar Express - very cute!
Today I'm painting my entry and hall. YEAH!!! I've got the first coat done and will soon start the second coat.
So, I'm not still in bed...though last night was another one with little sleep. Up after 1 am!!! (Busy working on Mother's Day gifts to put in the mail today - Shhh, don't tell my mom!)
I'll be back soon...

Tick tock... tick tock...
Yeah, so I've done my dishes, started my laundry, and picked up the family room. I would consider painting, but my "painting clothes" are now in the wash...oops.
Besides, if I started to paint now, I would never get back to sleep. But at this point, I do still have a chance - to fall asleep just before the alarm goes off for me to get up! Won't that be fun!

I got woken up at 12:30 (am) when Ryan got up to use the restroom (yeah, yeah - T.M.I., I know) - and I CAN'T GET BACK TO SLEEP!!! Ugghh.
So, I'm thinking...if I am going to be up, I might as well be up all the way. I'm going to do some dishes, start laundry, pick up the trashed family room (I've been painting this weekend - the rest of the house has been completely ignored.), and who knows what else. I figure at this rate, I'm going to be pretty tired tomorrow no matter what I do now, so I might as well get done now what I would have gotten done tomorrow if I had gotten a good night's sleep. Then if I want - I'll just be lazy tomorrow...uh, I guess that would be today.
Yeah, so that explains why I'm up at 2 am and not only posting on my blog, but also posting a (rather long) comment on Debi's (I didn't feel like linking it - if you wanna read, click on on the link at the side-bar. But then, if you already read her blog, you know how to get to it. And if you don't read her blog you probably don't care. And she doesn't believe in equal opportunity readers, so you need to register before she'll let you read it. But to her credit, she'll probably approve you, it just might take her a couple months...I love you, Debi!) blog instructing her on the "proper care and feeding" of fish - kind of.
I think I ramble when I'm up in the middle of the night - no, wait...I always ramble.
